If tOSU was in the SEC...

Where would they fit in the SEC ranks?

If not in first place, then who would be ranked ahead of them? How many games would they win in 2008 with a full SEC schedule - take LSU's schedule for example:

App St.
Troy
N. Texas
Auburn
Miss. St.
Florida
South Carolina
Georgia
Tulane
Alabama
Ole Miss
Arkansas

That schedule is easier than OSU's. The OOC games are an absolute joke. The only teams that would actually compete with the Buckeyes are Auburn, Florida, and Georgia. I would say that playing USC, Wisconsin, Michigan St., Illinois, and Penn St. is tougher. If we had to play the entire SEC sched, including LSU and Tenn, it might be tougher than our real sched, but not by all that much. Georgia is getting an unbelievable ammount of credit for putting together a good half-season, the Gators D is a joke, and Auburn is Auburn. The SEC is lavishing in self-praise over a couple of good years, but time will tell whether they can sustain the success.

It's my opinion that - if you were an SEC member - there is no damn way that you'd be getting ready to win your 4th consecutive conference title.

And I must strongly protest your characterization of the Florida D as "a joke." We were a joke last year. This year our defense is at most a slight jest or a charming witticism.

In that particular schedule, I would say 2 tests, 1 trap game and 9 for sure wins. Could win them all, but I would guess no worse than 10-2.

Thing is, you'd play at least three spread type offenses. While you would be in the top tier of SEC teams (don't get me wrong, not saying you'd destroy the SEC is not saying you suck), given your recent history you are going to have to show me better success against that type of offense before I could ever jump on a "run the table" prognosis.

'Course, if you played SEC offenses week in and week out your be better able to tweek your D, just like if we played the Big-10 for a season - we'd get better at defensing your strengths. You going with the Pistol seems like y'all are thinking that way too.

But if we were in the SEC we would have played these type of offenses for years

Are you basing our "recent history" on just Florida and Illinois?

LSU ran some interesting formations, but I would not call their offense a "spread" (excepting the fact that when Hester ran for short yardage against UF and tOSU, we both had to spread 'em), so yeah.

I didn't follow you that much until [strike] I started reading what you perverts posted on BP [/strike] recently, so you'll have to tell me some other good spread teams that you've had success with.

I guess the point of this thread was to see if you took this year's tOSU team and put them in the SEC, how would they do? Where would they rank?

Forget about if they were in the SEC for years - I'm just talking about this year - right now - how would they do?

Could they beat Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Alabama, etc..?

So we're going to assume that Mike Slive has already given Tress the device that turns on the human body's fast twitch muscle gene? Gotcha!
