As some may recall I spent a lot of time going on and on telling the world that I thought scUM had not gotten rid of their John F Cooper but indeed had just hired him.

Well after seeing his first seasons body of work I was completely wrong.

People will always associate Coop with his more talented teams that always choked against scUM but if you recall the first few years of his tenure you would recall that he took vastly outmanned teams into The Game from 1988-1992 and gave scUM all they could handle(save for a pretty good ass beating in '91).

Some other things Coop never did;

-get his ass beat 42-7 in The Game
-go 3-9
-lose to a MAC team, a bad MAC team, at home :slappy:
-have the worst season in school history

No, I knew John F Cooper, I suffered under John F Cooper and Dick Rod sir, you are no John F Cooper. He was twice the coach you could ever dream of being. My apologies to Coop and his family for ever making such a comparison(what did you guys think this thread would be about? :wink2:).

Merry Christmas everyone!

P.S. Whats with the beards?

You know your kind of a dick. :)

And I know you're definitely a dick.

Both Tressel and DickRod were hired in 2001. Here are their conference records during the 2001-2007 timeframe, when JT was at Ohio State and DickRod at West Virgina:

Tressel:

2001: 5-3
2002: 8-0 *
2003: 6-2
2004: 4-4
2005: 7-1 *
2006: 8-0 *
2007: 7-1 *

Total: 45-11 (.804)

DickRod:

2001: 1-6
2002: 6-1
2003: 6-1 *
2004: 4-2 *
2005: 7-0 *
2006: 5-2
2007: 5-2 *

All: 34-14 (.708)

* Conference champs

Although DickRod had the same amount of conference titles as Tressel during that timeframe, he was coaching in an inferior conference and had fewer undefeated conference seasons (one vice two for Tressel) despite playing one less conference game per year. And Tressel has yet to choke away at shot at the national title game by losing at home to a 4-7 team in the season finale like DickRod did in 2007.

What evidence is there to the contrary?

DickRod won 1 game his first year at Glenville State. Three years later he won 10 and never had another losing season.

His first year at WVU he went 3-8 (kinda like 3-9) the next year he won nine games. He never had another losing season at WVU and in 5 years had his team in the NC picture.

If you can recruit at WVU you can recruit at scUM.

Tate Forcier helps them a ton!

Damn you for making me think about scUM this long!
