Who the hell wants a game, especially a championship game, in a dome? You might want to note what happens to dome teams when they have to play in reality... I didn't see a lack of fan interest in Philly, Boston, Pittsburgh or Green Bay. We can, and we should, host some of those rank deciding games right here in Big 10 territory. As for getting even numbers why not add Kentucky? At least they'd get one conference win a year when they played Indiana.

W. Virginia is becoming very competitive. ND isn't even a consideration. I don't believe we should have two BTen schools in Penn.(I know. Who's the 1st one.). IF there is to be a 12th team, I'd like to see W. Virginia get serious consideration.

I picked Notre Dame, because I think they're the only ones who MAY be the 12th team. IF the Big 10 goes to 12, I believe it will be ND.

However, I would LOVE to see the Big 10 stick it to ND by inviting someone else. I think Missouri is already in a "top" conference, and isn't looking to move. Same with Iowa State. I always liked the idea of Marshall or Louisville (who isn't on the list). I'd never thought of Miami (OH), BG, or Northern Illinois. I like Marshall or Louisville over any of those three, though.

I'd also never thought of Syracuse. They seem to be a good idea, as the Big Least is crumbling, the Big 10 is probably their best hope.

So I picked ND, but mainly because "Staying at 11", or "dropping a team and returning to 10" weren't choices.

I can understand the line of thinking about deminishing the importance of The Game, but what i cannot understand is how it doesnt bother you that you must use tie breakers to Pick a champion. Decide it on the field, Also, if the big ten had a true confrence championship game the winner would go to the national championship almost yearly.

Pennitrations should only count when you are in bed! not to decide a confrence champion

Bringing in another Ohio team to the Big 10 like Miami or BG would really change the dynamic of Ohio State football, and would really put a huge amount of pressure on whichever team joins. There are no intra-state rivals, and every other Ohio school's surrogate football team is tOSU. It's very unlikely that this would happen, but it would also make for very interesting conference games.

The Big 10 doesn't use tie-breakers to pick a champion, but only to rack-and-stack who goes where. We have the same Big 10 championship banner that Iowa does for 2002...the banner doesn't say Big 10 Co-Champions.

Recall your Big 12 title game two years ago when Oklahoma (8-0 in conference) had to play Kansas State (6-2 in conference) for the title. Why should they have even played in the first place? Did they have the same conference record? No, they didn't...not even close. The sole reason why conferences have championship games is money, and only money, plain and simple. You say "Decide it on the field". Well, Oklahoma did decide it on the field, by running the conference table (along with being undefeated for the whole year and being #1 at that point), and finishing not one but two games ahead of the team they were forced to play in a meaningless title game. And I don't want to hear any crap about KSU proving the worth of the title game by winning...that proves nothing.

well im sorry that you have managed to build up that much anger while in hawaii, but i never said or ment to imply that the big 12 has the best system. I am not a fan of the divisions that the big twelve has, and i do think that it is rediculous that kansas state would even get the opportunity to play ou for the "title". I prefer to have the two best teams in the confrence play each other regradless of geographic location. And while you are correct in saying that money plays a huge roll in these games, you are saddly mistaken if you think that you and iowa were not co-champions regardless of what some banner says.

its not anger, its frustration. everyone seems to think that adding a 12th team and a "championship" game will somehow fix some magical problem. A. there is no flippin problem! B. assuming there were, there is 0 proof (and much to the contrary) that a 12th team and a so called "championship" game would solve said magical problem. the ou and ksu game is a perfect example of why championship games don't work as they are implimented in the college environment. it has nothing to do with the big 12 other than the fact that the big 12 happens to be the conference mili's example came from.

and what happens when the big ten season ends and there are 3 7-1 teams? do you have 2 big 10 championship games now? what happens if you have 1 8-0 team and 5 4-4 teams? do you have 5 big 10 championship games?

this line of thinking is as flawed as the premise that the bcs has the ability to remove split national champions. people, for reasons completely unknown to me, seem to think that the college system is setup to allow for a clear cut champion. this is so far from reality its laughable. the college system is designed to generate income, period. in order to crown a TRUE confrence/national champion the college system would have to be radically reworked to follow the nfl system. doing so would require the college season to be nearly twice as long as the nfl season. people can whine bitch and moan all they want. but there is no current system in place anywhere in college football that has the ability to crown a conference/national champion under every circumstance. it doesn't exist and it will likely never exist.

the big 10 is just fine the way it is. leave it be!

if you get rid of the divisions and play the two best teams then you get rid of any doubt about the champion. The reason that it is better is that you cannot have everyone play everyone in a confrence every year, the championship game elliminates talk of "easier" scheduals,(ie iowa missing osu and mich next year) will you really be able to look someone in the eye and call iowa the big 10 champs if the go undefeated next year in confrence?

First I don't believe that the Big East teams will be scambling to join more powerful confences since the addition of Lousivlle gives them a legitimate BCS team. West Virginia is a team on the rise as is Pittsburgh and Miami and Virginia Tech leaving for the ACC can only increase recruiting. Less competition means more of a chance to grab a bid. I admit that Notre Dame has more reason now than ever to join a conference with their football program suffering. If Weis can't turn things around they are sure to loose their broadcasting contracts and be forced. However the big ten is no longer the best prospect as they could seriously do some damage in the current Big Least despite Louisville.

I for one am glad because as it is we are the most competitive conference around I dont care what anyone says about the SEC, our teams show up to play no matter what. Who are the pushovers in the Big Ten? John L Smith has Michigan Sate on the rise, Purdue has been great in recent years, Illinois just picked up Ron Zook who I am sure will have better success, Penn State will certainly be bowl bound. I tried but I can't defend Indiana lol but Iowa's recent rise to powerhouse status more than makes up for it. And as hard as it is for me to admit Northwestern finished higher in the Big Ten standings than Ohio State and they outplayed us. I admit we didnt play as well as we should have but not rallying to escape an embarrasing defeat in overtime I cant overlook. Anyway I think there was a point to this.

If we were to add a legitimate football team it would [in time] effect recruiting as we would choose a team geographically suited as well as make the big ten all that harder to play through undefeated. We would very rarely produce a national t*** contender. We would play a t*** game which in addition to making it very nearly impossible to ever make it through the conference undefeated would have serious implications on THE GAME. We would play Michigan likely during our regular season as it would be to risky to put us on either sides of the conference and hope that we end up in the t*** game. The reason its the greatest rivalry in all of college sports is because it always has implications on the big ten title and almost always influences the t*** game.

All points considered Im glad the chances of adding an extra team are slim and heres to hoping they stay that way. Geiger didnt deserve to be booted and I hope our new AD doesnt want to make a name for himself by pulling for a big ten with twelve teams.
