Plans Announced For Clippers' Arena District Stadium
Check it out. The Clippers new home for 2008. I am pretty excited about it, but I can see the ticket price having a nice increase.

If ever the construction of a new stadium in a different part of town was going to help a team's attendance, this has to be it. Cooper Stadium is in one of the absolutely worst areas of Columbus, Neil and Nationwide is within walking distance of every relevant downtown locale. Big, big step up for the ballclub. Hopefully it won't spell the end of Dime-a-Dog night.

Just going down to Mound St. gives you a depressing feeling.
Great move by the Clippers.
Plus now after dime a dog night you can walk to the bars to get loaded!

Couldnt agree more. I support this 1000 percent. Mound St. is cool and all, if you want to visit the cemetary adjacent to the ballpark. This new one will definately bring a "different" crowd to the games as well.
The bars being right there is such a bonus.

i read an article in the other paper today, basically saying how cool it would be to use part of the old penn facade on it. worth the read if you see the other paper pick it up.

There has been discussions going on to what will happen to the old stadium. Some say it should be given to CPS/Columbus City League to play football and baseball games there. Bring back the City Champ Football game that used to be held there. And during football season have a "Game of the Week" held there every week.

Indians general manager Mark Shapiro took his first in-person look at Huntington Park yesterday and gushed about the intimate feel of the rising facility for the Clippers.
"It's going to be a unique environment where players can interact with fans and fans can interact with players," he told The Dispatch's Jim Massie. "The atmosphere is going to be second to none."
Shapiro said the Indians plan to begin their working agreement in Columbus with a strong team.
"We're excited about the team, the position players particularly," he said. "We've got three dynamic outfielders in (Michael) Brantley, (Matt) LaPorta and (Trevor) Crowe. The third baseman, Wes Hodges, is a very important prospect for us. There are going to be guys we consider major league pitchers who are going to be here as well."

We went for the first time a couple weeks ago. Great, great minor league park. Two homers landed on the lawn, for what it's worth. It reminds me a little of a miniature Fenway with the name atop the upper deck and the city in the background.
