I like to shoot beaver, does that count as hunting?

can't wait for the drunk hillbilly stories about hunters shooting their friend/relative to start making the newspapers. I love those. I don't hunt only because I just find it to be ridiculously boring. I don't have the patience or desire to shoot anything bad enough to sit in a tree for 8 hours.

Thanks for your post. It was very insightful.

One of my friend bagged the biggest buck in Ohio a few years back. I do not deer hunt but it measured some 250+ points on the Boone and Crocket scale? That sound right? I know it was fucking huge.

The funny thing is these guys were stoned to the bone and it was their first morning in the field. This deer that looked like an elk just walked up and he shot it with a 10 guage slug right through the heart like it was no big deal.

I hunt birds. There is nothing like a long walk in the woods with some good dogs looking for a grouse or whatever. I really do not even care if we kill anything. It is just great to get out with a gun and some dogs.

I turned into a dumb buck hunter friday morning.

I was bow hunting early friday morning and there were deer running around all over the place. I saw 4 doe and 3 buck before I even got into my stand. I was starting to think I was about 5 mins. late getting to my stand. I got there and rattled my rattle bag before I even got situated. I got comfortable and waited about 10 mins to use my bleet can. Next thing I know a nice looking buck comes trotting out of the woods, up wind of me, right to sent sent I left on the path about 9 yds. from my stand. The closer he gets I can see a perfect 4 points on my side but the other antler looks malformed. I clicked my safety off prepared to shoot regardless, and just as I did a pretty nice 8 point comes trotting out of the same place he did.

This is when I stuck my head in my ass.

I let the first buck walk right underneath me ( I could have jumped on his back he was so close) because I just knew that 8 pt. was on his way to me. He ended up taking off into the weeds and taunting me by thrashing around in the thistles about 100 yds. away. I went to check it out and there was a ground scrape and broken branches all over the place.

Still alot of season left so I have time.

My mother works for a veterinary hospital, and they've already seen a few dogs come in with gunshot wounds. One of those dogs was a Jack Russell Terrorist. (Yeah, those really look like deer! :roll1:) Folks, please be careful out there!
