I have said it before and I will say it again.
If you truly care about wildlife then I suggest you join Ducks Unlimited or another group and buy a hunting or fishing license. Those funds go directly to wildlife management and habitat protection. Everything else is false posturing.

Great!!!! Have fun murdering innocent animals for no reason!!!!

Animal populations work themselves out without human interference. There is no reason what so ever to hunt in this day and age.

I have seen what happens when A deer jumps through a windshield, I saw it on my way to school last year, the deer survived and looked fine when I went by, but the cops shot it to "put it out of its misery".

And the Bambi thing that you mentioned doesn't mean anything to me, I don't approve of killing any animals like that.

haha, true I'm sure, but I wouldn't want to eat one either way.

Posts like these are the reason I sometimes wish hunting humans was legal.

I bet you have no problem enjoying a hamburger, bacon, or a good pork chop. Do you think butchers just stand around and wait for the cows and pigs to die of natural causes before they butcher them?

I've never lived in the city. I have lived in the suburbs all my life, I do hate them though.

LOL

The point stands. Suburubs = city boy.

It means you have never lived in the country and have a distorted view of wildlife.

Edit: Oops I see StX already covered it.

I'm all for hunting, as long as the person actually uses the meat for food ect. I used to hunt quite a bit growing up. The reason that I got out of it is because of the Sunday warriors who would go buy a hunting license, an orange vest.....and away they went. Quite frankly, these people scared the hell out of me, and are a major contributor to hunting casualties annually. I took a hunting safety course when I was a kid, quite frankly I think that anyone who hunts should be required to do the same.

I have no problem with hunting, it provides food and population control. I do have a problem with the people who don't know what the fuck their doing though. Sadly, I'd wager that there are more people like that out there than people who are safe hunters. That is flat out scary.

Agreed 100%. This is the primary reason I don't hunt much these days. There are too many idiots wandering Ohio public lands in season.

If I lived out west I would probably still hunt and continue to donate excess meat to shelters.

Cute story, but I'm not buying it. You had time while riding by to make an accurate assessment of the deer's health...AND got to see it shot by the police.

If the deer was fine it would have been long gone by the time the police arrived on the scene. They don't tend to stand around waiting to fill out an accident report and file an insurance claim.

Be sure to visit a slaughterhouse sometime. :)

You people who call yourselves hunters are pathetic. Real men fish!

I have never hunted because those Sunday hunters scare the shit out of me. All of the experiences hunters I know have told me enough stories to keep me out of the woods in November. I figure the worst that is going to happen while fishing is I get a bath or a fly catches me in the flesh. That is easier to deal with than a gunshot.

I had to drive by slowely and I saw the deer sitting in front of the car, didn't see any blood, but I can't 100% guarentee that it wasn't hurt.

I heard about it being shot later.

How do you know they are innocent? Are you personally tracking every creature on earth? I saw a deer just the other day stealing from a farmer. And I have heard of deer on deer crime, so I dont think we can assume they are all innocent. Isnt it possible deer rape and murder other deer?

And how do you feel about butchering "innocent" cows, pigs and chickens?

I went out for about an hour and a half two weeks ago and saw 8 deer. It was the Friday right after we got that big cold front move in. I had a little 6 point walk about 30 yds. from me but he was over my right shoulder and there is no way I am shooting left handed with a bow.

Did anyone see the monster 30+ point buck taken down in Adams County on opening day?

I was already shaking my head when I read the first sentence.....and then I laughed out loud. Great response! I would be hard pressed to say which one is more enjoyable.

I lived in the country growing up and now live in the city. It is actually the suburbs; I guess there is some sort of difference. It is amazing how different the mind set is between the two.

I have also hunted for a long time. I could care less if people shoot deer for the meat. We butcher ours and eat them but they are rats. My uncle has a dairy farm and the deer love to eat at a silage pile for the cattle. There are multiple diseases which are spread from the nose of a deer. It takes one of them to infect the pile and the entire herd would have to be killed. That is your beloved hamburger that arrives magically wrapped in plastic at the supermarket. I really don't get how eating hamburger/chicken can be held in such high regard but venison/elk/pheasant/duck/etc. is viewed sick and demented.

Now fishing is just plain cruel. Us hunters at least try to quickly kill our prey. You fishermen hook and haul in and let them go. J/K

In my oil days I met a few BP, British Petroleum not BuckeyePlanet, guys that worked in Alaska. They did not hunt but did fish. They both had many stories of bears following them when they had a catch. They carried a shotgun or a .44mag.

Are you the hunter or the hunted?
