Hstead is still a big deal, even if facts are suddenly malleable

Based on what?
Based on the fact that Burrow still put up respectable number in a system where QBs generally go to die? Burrow's first year at LSU he put up passing numbers comparable to numbers JT put up every single year at OSU. And OSU's system, while still run heavy, is still far more QB friendly than the ancient system LSU was running until 2019.

If Haskins would have gone down with an injury in the Spring and Joe won the job, I am pretty confident that Joes numbers would have been very similar to Haskins. Joe will be a first round draft pick this year. To pretend Joe just somehow became good the past nine months is far from fact. It is ridiculous really.
No, what's ridiculous is your claim that Burrow didn't make a quantum fucking leap from last year to this year. Comparing this year to last year, Joe:
  • Threw for over 1,800 more yards
  • Exactly tripled his TD passes (48 vs 16), while throwing only one more INT
  • Improved his passer rating over 68 points
  • Had over nine more completions per game
  • Improved his accuracy by over 20%
  • Threw for over 120 more yards per game
Sorry, but that's an absolutely stunning one-year improvement.

So you are saying if Joe had won the job at OSU and played in 2018 in the same system he had practiced in for three years that he would have had the same stats he had at LSU? What world are you living in. Again, by all accounts, the battle between Joe and DH was extremely close. Everyone that watched the spring that year pretty much had the same opinion, that it could go either way. Haskins and Joe were very close in ability then and are now. to act like Joe sucked until this year is not accurate.
the world where we pay attention to facts, like Day's new system and Joe's average production elsewhere.

Dwayne was the greatest passer in league history. He did that in year 1 of the system.

Joe left after a few weeks of practice in the new system so he could start. He had a lot of growing pains. Would he have had less at OSU? No one knows

Would he have ever played? That was far from a given when he left.

Credit for Joe to keep developing, and to LSU for debuting a killer new system to turn him loose.

burrow passed for more than 200 yds 4x. Once in 7 OT. Once exactly 200 yds.

He threw for 16 TDs. JT threw 35 in Joe's final year on campus, which was 1 TD year less than JTs first year as a starter.

Blame the dreadful system, but their production was not similar at all, unless you throw out TDs which is a pretty big asterisk.

I would bet my right nut in Days system, with WRs that Joe practiced with for three years, he would have not only throw 16 TDs had he won the job in 2018 and played at OSU instead of LSU. I believe Joes numbers would have been significantly better had he been at OSU and say Haskins transferred to LSU where I doubt he would have thrown for 50 TDs in their system his first year. It is apples and oranges and to compare their 2018 stats at two different teams is not exactly fair.

I wonder how many yards per carry Jonathan Taylor would average if he played behind Arkansas line this year? Would that make him a lesser back?
