Hstead is still a big deal, even if facts are suddenly malleable

I wanted Joe to play over JT three years ago. I was roasted here for it. Probably will get roasted again, but he was better than JT.
Burrow is a good kid and a Buckeye, but you are factually wrong.

Burrow last year, as a 4th year Junior, was not better than JT at any point of JT's career.

It wasn't until Burrow's FIFTH year that he became better than just average. It was a monumental, unprecedented jump for Burrow this year.

And I'm far from a JT apologist. But this is nonsense.

That is your opinion. Fact is that he was barely edged out by Haskins. It was very close according to all accounts. He did not just freakishly become great this year. I have watched Joe since he was a junior in HS.

We would not have gotten beat 31-0 by Clemson if Joe was playing over JT. JT limited our offense so badly it was ridiculous and Venables recognized it hence the result. We couldn't get a damn first down.

Pick any statistic you want. JT his entire career was better than Burrow was in 2018.

Now THERE's an opinion.

Also, go ahead and compare Haskins' and Burrow's 2018 stats and try not laughing at the monstrous gap between the two.

This seems like a clear display of bias.

Perhaps if Burrow could have sprinkled some magic dust on Tyler Durbin?

Pretty ridiculous to compare Joe and Haskins in 2018 when Joe was learning an entirely new playbook with an entirely new team and didn't have the weapons Haskins had around him that Joe would have also been comfortable with. If you think the contest wasn't close and Haskins was light years ahead of Joe then please back that up with something other than your opinion because everyone else seems to have had a different one from yours included in this thread a couple of years ago.

Dwayne Haskins was a 1st round draft pick after 2018; Joe Burrow would not have even been drafted

If Haskins would have gone down with an injury in the Spring and Joe won the job, I am pretty confident that Joes numbers would have been very similar to Haskins. Joe will be a first round draft pick this year. To pretend Joe just somehow became good the past nine months is far from fact. It is ridiculous really.

And yet last year exists

It is absolutely reality. To pretend otherwise is simply a fairy tale.

In 2018, Burrow completed just 58% of his passes and threw for only 7.6 yards per attempt. His TD:INT was 16:5.

That is replacement level production.

In 2019, Burrow completed 78% of his passes and threw for 10.7 yards per attempt. His TD:INT was 48:6.

In what world are you living in?

So you are saying if Joe had won the job at OSU and played in 2018 in the same system he had practiced in for three years that he would have had the same stats he had at LSU? What world are you living in. Again, by all accounts, the battle between Joe and DH was extremely close. Everyone that watched the spring that year pretty much had the same opinion, that it could go either way. Haskins and Joe were very close in ability then and are now. to act like Joe sucked until this year is not accurate.

So your entire argument here is based on opinionated hearsay from Spring practice (lol) from people you've never even spoken to?

And then you're using that argument to say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Burrow would have nearly-duplicated Haskins' success at OSU last year?

I'm sorry, but this is just laughable.

Back to reality, Joe completely transformed his game this year. And I'm happy for him. But at no point should he have ever been the starting QB at Ohio State. Better players played over him the entire time he was here, and certainly in 2018 as well.

Hell nah. I would've taken first year LSU Joe over any version of JT except maybe freshman year JT. LSU's trash offensive system didn't do Burrow any favors.
