HS girls leg snaps in race, drags herself x finish line...

As for the snapping/cracking sounds... I don't know how many runners that happens to... for all I know I could be in a very small minority. One of my ankles sometimes makes a cracking sound when I extend my foot.

Yes, but does it hurt? I crack my knuckles all the time, and sometimes when I walk my ankle pops/cracks but thats a sort of air pressure thing and has no pain included. Her pops and cracks were actual bone giving way.

Meh. I accept your possibility of reality as a higher probability than mine as you were a runner and I was not. I retract my "She was stupid" remark and retain my "great fortitude and determination" one.

Broke my collarbone sled riding and walked a mile to my home when I was 17. I know what the sound hears like and feels like. Think separating a cooked turkey leg...........

I'm guessing she had a stress fracture previously(she complained about a sore leg for weeks) and it broke the rest of the way. Surprisingly, it's not as painful as a dislocation of a shoulder or knee, which is excruciating!

ESPN - High school runner breaks leg, crawls to finish line - High School Sports

What a great young lady....

She'll still be able to get some lucky lad the beer he requested from the fridge - even if she has one or two broken limbs...:groove:

what a stupid girl. Sometimes bad things happen to intelligent people. This isn't one of those times.

:slappy: at her deserved injury

Uh, dipshit, how was her injury "stupid"? Maybe her dragging herself with a broken leg is questionable, but the actual injury is far from stupid...

actually that was what I was referring to, her dragging herself across the line, not the actual injury

Well that's for her to decide. Some people have too much pride for their own good and some people just have pride. If she can look back at this some day and still believe she did the right thing, then who are you to say she was stupid?

anybody who risks serious injury for the all-important state competition is stupid. Heck, finishing the race accomplished nothing...did she win? Somebody in this thread actually compared this to what some guy did in the Olympics. Yeah, that's the same.

I don't know why the stupid get praised in today's society.
