JJ Watt increases Harvey fundraising goal to $10M

Looks like he already had a foundation, so the funds are being administered through that.

Certainly, his intent cannot be faulted. In an interview this morning, he said trucks are being loaded and sent to Houston. What I found myself wondering, though. is who is organizing the distribution (other than Watt and his teammates) and what experienced advice they may have about the best way to do so. There are, after all, countless long-established groups that have years of experience in managing disaster relief. So, if this is strictly an amateur relief effort, what will control abuse of their good intentions? What, for example, will prevent people who may not actually be from a flooded area from obtaining the supplies, esp. expensive items like generators, and then selling them?

I hope it goes well for him and his associates. I'm just a little worried that, without some structure based on knowledge of the circumstances being dealt with, this relief effort could go south in a very unfortunate way.
