in Houston right now.
really goddamn hot outside.

but thermostat inside is broke in the below freezing position.
I have been in Houston once for a depo. It was horrible. But the hotel had underground tunnels to pretty much everyplace else, because apparently everyone knows it sucks outside.

Best of luck to you, I hated that place. I have lived in or visited many big cities, but Houston takes the cake. Apparently Texans don't believe that pollution is real, because scientists don't wear cowboy boots or something. Of many dozens of major cities I have been to, Houston is the cesspool of them all as far as the air goes. It is like Beijing.

I'm gonna go all psycho now: no other city even comes close as far as walking into a smog of filth. Nothing close.

I'm not a city guy. I live damn near in the swamps away from civilization on purpose.
Not a real big fan of Houston, but it is better than New Orleans or Atlanta. Probably a hair better than Dallas/Fort Worth too.

Beats me, all I know is I could get to a law firm from my hotel while walking in an undergound mall.

I didn't find Dallas or other Texan cities (San Antonio, Austin, Alpine if that counts, etc.) that bad, nor Atlanta, which I've been to quite a bit. I was only in Houston once though, maybe it was on off week.

Well, I hope you enjoy the swamps soon. Say "hi" to the various things that can kill you there for me. And watch out for copperheads.

With the exception of the things that will kill and/or eat you, I envy you your solitude. Would love to do the same thing in some mountainous place with less reptiles. :)

yeah, the underground mall is the galleria.
it's a way to avoid traffic and the Houston weather.

Houston weather is a lot like New Orleans weather. except in NOLA you can't get anywhere on the roads so you have to walk.
outside.

Houston is much easier to navigate around by car. especially for how big that damn place is.

I regularly work at our office just East of Houston. but now that my sister's lil girl is at MD Anderson, I always go spend at least a day or two over there when I head that way.

I like the mountains too.
must something about this marsh air that just feels right.

yeah it's freaking hot and humid and hurricanes and all that. but I wouldn't trade it for life in an actual city.
hell the closest "city" to me is probably around 70k population and I absolutely hate it.
