well... survived icepocolyse 2 here in Austin... 275 wrecks that Austin PD responded to, thats not including the surrounding counties and cities PDs... its probably closer to 400 or 450 total wrecks in the area... nuts.

my kid is enjoying walking around outside seeing ice where water had accumulated.

9 years old, first time he ever sees it like this.
we've gotten this cold before, but rarely with an almost full day of rain before the freeze.
so everything was wet and is now a thin layer of ice.

Anybody near Atlanta (who isn't currently freezing in their gridlocked vehicle)? They apparently handled the storm rather badly.

Rather badly is an understatement. I was fortunate enough to be off these few days. Basically, more snow got dumped here than people expected on the Northside (where I am). Atlanta traffic is notoriously bad in sunny weather - throw in 3 inches of snow, subfreezing temps, and widespread panic in getting home on completely unprepared roads and you get a disaster like this.

This has happened before, Atlanta is just not prepared for snow or ice of any sort. Everybody tried to make it home simultaneously and that's when this shit hits the fan. That's when you get The Walking Dead gridlocks and babies being born on the interstate in an ice storm.

It's a hypothetical that will probably never happen (unless 'Day After Tomorrow' becomes a reality), but I cannot imagine Atlanta if the city received the amount of snow and cold most in the Midwest has received the past week.
