How many others have competed in triathlons, marathons, etc ?

To get back on topic, I used to run half marathons mainly but a few full marathons, until my second knee op ended that. I am now limited to the occasional 10km run/walk and really just do it to be participating.

After my bike crash and burn four weeks ago, my doing the Ironman 70.3 Hawaii at the end of May was in serious jeopardy. I have my first follow-up tomorrow and if my shoulder is anywhere near fully healed I could start road-biking (vice stationary biking) and possibly swimming again in time to get back into shape for it. I've already missed this season's first two sprint triathlons (paid for both ahead of time) because of the injury. :smash:

I think MolGenBuckeye mentioned in the "Any Runners?" thread that he signed up for the Ironman Coeur d'Alene last year. Folanator supplies nutritional drinks for triathlons. Anyone else involved in triathlons?

Yep, it's coming up fast - June 21. Planning on doing one sprint before then as a tune-up.

Didn't know you were training for a 70.3. Hope the follow-up appointment shows things are headed in the right direction!

BTW, do you wear shoes or boots when jogging and biking ?

Depends, if they are titanium I go with the boots. More aero. Carbon fiber, I would go with shoes, preferably penny loafers.

Boots? LOL. That's fucking rich.

Triathlon is for pussies.

I'm a complete amateur but entered into a couple 5K this summer that are coming up. Just training now and can run the 5k fairly easily.

Are you supposed to try and make better and better times with these? I don't know how to compete at exercising.
