Isn't tOSU's considered 'great' as marching bands go?
I love TBDBITL and brag about it at times, and I considered my HS band to be great... but as I said in that paragraph, the best bands are from the south (F A&M, etc). Those are the ones who are a treat to watch regardless of the occasion, which is why their mediocre football teams pack out the stadiums. I am looking forward to someday attending one of their games in person, and try not to embarrass myself when getting into the music :)

Incidentally, do any of the people sticking up for marching bands consider such bands to be any more important than cheerleaders? Cheerleaders practice tirelessly. Cheerleaders are more athletic. Cheerleaders do not pee in the communal shower.

Should I make a poll?

I should.

cheerleaders are a feast for the eyes, but were pretty pointless at my school. I'm not sure anyone ever cheered with them, and we packed out seats every friday.

as for the peeing in the shower, this bitterness seems to be much deeper than most people's distaste for the obsessed types in the band.

put golf, tennis, student council, debate team members, etc up there and they will always lose to cheerleaders

I'll tell you one thing, the cheerleaders put in about 1/100 the time the band members do.

Again I was never in band but wouldn't put anyone down who was in it b/c it's a big time sacrifice as well.

Sounds to me like someone was in band and didn't get a Varsity letter.
