BTW it is humbling to lose v cash not only for the wrong prediction on 9 but also 6 and 7 as well.

At least Pitino is smart enough that when he loses, still gets a payday to be publicly humiliated by Charles Barkley on a national broadcast.

Well, as we all know they only got 2. So that is below average.

Yet the other thing you leave out is their seedings. The average is assuming you have teams ranging from the 1 to 16 seed. Yet they only had 2 teams above a 6 seed, and 4 were 3 seeds or better. 4 would be the minimum in that case, and probably should be 5 or 6. So getting only 2 is horrible.

Here is some perspective about how badly the Big East is performing. If UConn and Marquette meet in the final four and the winner of that game wins the national championship, the Big East STILL would have won fewer games than would be expected by their seeds (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3286167).

Seed expectations predict Big East teams to win 17 games. So far they have won 9. Marquette and UConn can combine to win only 6 more games giving the Big East a maximum of 16 wins. Marquette's road to the final four is UNC and the winner of the OSU/Kentucky game. UConn has San Deigo St. then Duke/Arizona.
