Dear Santa,

I've been a really hard worker all year, thus I think a new job would be the perfect Christmas present this year.

Thanks!

Contemplating a career change.

In line with you guys (still).

Had good prospects at an amazing opportunity but it didn't work out. Gutted. Makes working the current gig even harder.

Got my first "real" raise today so I'm definitely a happy camper. It's just a few more dollars a week, but I'm more than happy with that for the time being, and its much more generous than I was expecting (a few cents raise in this industry might give some of our older workers a literal heart attack  ).

I'm glad my job is generally easier the busier we get. Pulling out of the parking lot today, they were filling up the last two rows. Thank goodness I don't have to deal with the angry guests anymore, at least directly, in terms of handling their complaints. You thought you were going to come here around Christmas and walk into any attraction without a wait, or that you wouldn't be walking shoulder to shoulder with 50k+ people, really?

I definitely won't be spending my time off in the parks the next two weeks, that's for sure!

Work makes me feel like shit today. Tech support/QA for a POS (Point of sale) software company...although that acronym could go either way right now. Granted, they take on new customers all the time, but they're so stingy with staff lately that they haven't increased the bodies in years. They only replace when people leave, and sometimes they don't do that. Lot of people leaving the last few years too...not just new guys that couldn't cut it, but guys with 20+ years here.

Anyway, I have to carry a pager phone once every 6 weeks, this is my week. It used to be an emergencies only kind of thing, then it became a "Hey, we know you just got home, but we're slammed, so get back online and help out" kind of thing. All the time. Just worked an 11 hour shift last night, came home and got to unwind for an hour, slept for less than two after that, only to get a call at noon that they needed help. By the time they got things under control again I had to get ready to come back in and do another 11 hours. So, here I am. Knock on wood, it's somewhat slow at the moment, but you better believe I'm catchin' a nap tonight if I can pull it off.

Working in a union shop sucks. Too many arrogant, entitled, two-faced old goats in this shithole. I would love to see the place close down so they would realize how worthless and unskilled they are when no one hired thier sorry old asses! Yes, it would be worth losing my job.

Well, I get to dive right into hell (aka the parks the week between Christmas and NYE) today. I'll definitely be picking a spot and standing there all day long, because it will take me forever to move anywhere fighting the capacity crowds every single park in the area has been receiving (there's a recession, you say?). Not looking forward to the drive home, either. At least I'll be out of there by 6pm on NYE.
