How does work make you feel today?

Pretty cool to come in on a weekend and count inventory.....and not get paid for it. [censored] salary. Also a major [censored] up occurred about a week ago. A few guys looked at the wrong print and drilled a hole in the wrong place for 600+ pieces of custom glass that I had to special order. Was only 9 inches off. That was a true bummer. Anybody ever been or worked in Boulder, Colorado? I'm thinking of taking a job out there......maybe.

How not to become an employer of choice:

Have a meeting that occurs over the lunch hour with both inside and remote staff where you buy lunch for the inside staff and tell the remote staff "sorry, you are on your own". Don't offer to expense it for them and then do it for two straight days.

Its the little things......

I knew this industry had a pretty regular and high turnover ratio, but wow, my department is pretty much the worst I have ever seen. Based on how we quantify our work loads, we had almost 13 hours of uncovered work at my park today, and there was a high amount of uncovered work at our other 3 parks as well. They're handing out extra shifts and overtime like candy, and I've counted at least 10 new people that have come in since I started in March. Absolutely insane at work lately.

Pretty good actually. Ive finally grown my business to the point where I can start enjoying the fruits of my labor. I opened my doors in Nov of 2008. As of last month, Im taking Mondays and Fridays off. Like, forever. At least with this business. Have to admit, its pretty nice.

What has ticked me off a bit is some of the comments some people have made. Like "tough life" or "it must be rough," Well actually a-hole, it was rough. Let me see you work with no salary for two years, or five years without a vacation, or on call for two years straight, then well talk about what a "tough life" is.

In any event, I found myself a very good SVP who wants to run things, all on her shoulders. Over the last three years, she's really proven herself, and I actually trust her skill set over mine with many things in this business. Yes, Im going to give her an equity stake to lock her in, but IMO totally worth it for the aggravation to end with her. Me, I now get to come in Tues - Thurs and talk strategy and reveiw financials. :)

Tomorrow is Friday for me. Will be going to the beach.....until Monday. Life is good!

This could as easily go in pet peeve, but there is this tool in my office that sends emails out at really strange hours like 3:04 a.m. and 4:27 a.m., etc.

Wow, you discovered the delayed send in Outlook. We all know you are not really working at this time.....:sleep1:

Here let me make you your hot chocolate. See how you like it, you piece of work

Just found out I am losing my job. I am a Head Trader on a European bond desk. They said I am not approachable enough during tough times(severe drawdowns). They want me to step down as a leader and move to the stock team as a trader. That team is the lowest performing team in our firm. My bonus is correlated to team performance. Would be a severe loss for me, not to mention the raise I would be losing this 6months.

I am at a absolute loss on what to do. Our company makes all of us sign non-competes the day we are hired. I signed mine almost 5 years ago. I am scared if I refuse to make the move to the stocks team, I will lose my job and they will still hold me to my non-compete. Yet, they will not pay my salary for the year since they offered me a position inside the firm. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Man I should of walked out....:shake:

I have had 2 very good friends quit in the last few months..and as I stipulated a few pages back the firm fired 18 people. Performance on certain teams is still unacceptable, and most feel that management will be forced to cut further or restructure completely. It is so sad to see a company which was such a great work place and dominant market player come to this...so fucking sad, how certain individuals made poor decisions and have strangled the profitable teams.
