So there's this crazy woman at the job that a smart woman but has many personal problems which occasionally cause her to snap. Her method of venting always involves doing something to crazy. I like peanut butter. For years I've always kept some in the fridge. I always as a quick fix, instead of sitting down and eating a meal I'll eat a spoonful and keep going. Today something terrible happened. The nutty woman (no one saw her but we know it was her) put my plastic jar of peanut butter in the microwave set in high for who knows how long. The inside of the microwave was totally trashed like a bomb went off. What a fucking mess.

Because I've never done it before in a truly professional office setting, any advice/tips on looking for a new job while you currently have one? Obviously don't be looking at jobs on the computer at work, but other non-obvious stuff. Getting away for an interview is easy since I can remote and conveniently have family where I'd be exploring my options, however my worry is a place I check that doesn't give me the option of them not contacting my current employer. Am I just stupidly paranoid and most places won't contact a current employer out of courtesy to you? I actually like my current job if it weren't for where I'm doing it, and my boss (currently) likes me and I'd get a glowing endorsement if I leave on great terms, so don't want to ruin that.

In my experience, the only time a prospective employer contacts anyone at your present employment is IF you provide said person as a reference. I don't think you should be worried about it.

That's just wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong....could almost be misconstrued as a violent act in the workplace and cost her, her job if she is not careful.....

Yes, she's absolutely loony. One time someone's wife baked a bunch of cookies, various sorts, all delicious and made us a big platter, probably more than 100 cookies. About an hour later someone went to get one and found that someone had dumped them all in the garbage. We all suspect it was her, she doesn't like others spreading joy.
