So the owners of the company I work for, herein referred to as TOOLS, decided that they wanted us to start signing a personal guarantee of our work in a nice little certificate to our clients. They even made one up with a nice little seal and everything.
Now these TOOLS, have to realize that what I do for a living is not a licensed practice like an Engineer, Surveyor, etc. Therefore, I carry no liability insurance and neither do they on me.
So off went one of my coworkers and myself to a lawyer who told us in no uncertain terms should we ever sign a guarantee of our work. In fact, since the TOOLS won't give us any ownership in the company, legal counsel further advised us to not sign any documents for the company such as contracts, quotes, etc.
This all came about, I believe, because these TOOLS want some sort of way to financially hold us accountable for anything that could go wrong with a project. I could actually see these fucking TOOLS suing an employee if they chose to based on this.
I need a new job and bad....
