So, at 5 pm yesterday the President announced a new "Take it When you Want it" time off policy. Knowing that we all work so hard we deserve to play hard and as long as your supervisor approves, have at it. Oh and by the way, if you carried over time from the previous year, yeah there is no payout. But, hey this is an employee centric policy because we value you.

I know there is an offer on the table for the company, so this appears to be a way to minimize the companies obligations. At worst if we get bought I stand to loose in a potential downsizing or buyout. If we don't then At a minimum it cost me 10 days of earned vacation and devalued my 3 weeks a year to the same as a first year employee.

It doesn't matter how much lipstick you put on a pig, it is still a pig.

I never understand the companies that don't allow days to carry over. Unfortunately I work for one, well they only let you roll 10 days. I have 39 vacation days a year, no way I can use all those.
The kicker is we were allowed to carry days over until they threw out this new policy, which took it away and screwed the folks that did have carry over.

In my first year I've put in a lot of odd hours. Most 6 days a week. One year tenure is April. I go to a Normal m-f, 9-5 schedule. I feel like an adult again. I also have an interview at the end of April for a new position. I'm grateful for the job I have but when my own supervisor says he feels I'm being underutilized, it's time to move up.

Really digging my job. The only boss I'm soon to have is the owner of the company. She's told me more than once that she's grateful that I'm working for her and couldn't be happier with my performance. The pay could be better, but after working for a couple larger corporations in a row, it feels fucking great to be at a job where what I do makes folks happy and where hard work is appreciated and celebrated. Fuckin' A.
