You can spend a ton of money on just the projector. Screens really dont matter much. I would get one of the ginormous rear-projection screens, since they are so cheap now. Can get a 65" for $1000 or less.

Are you lookin to set up sound as well? That I can definitely help with :biggrin:

Get yourself a Yamaha 7.1 receiver, with Klipsch speaks. Now of course this is assuming that money would be no object. As far as lower end goes, any receiver will work, like maybe a Sony. Alot of choices for speaks as well, like Polk, Infinite, etc.

Got a client that has his basement done like this, did it for the 02 national championship. Here's a picture of his setup:

now he put in the risers and leather seats, along with HD LCD projector, surround sound (reciever and all) and was under 5 grand. I know for the one I plan on building it starts with a media center computer to be the brains of everything alongside of a couple external hard drives on a rack for looks and storage.

barlow, i remember that cuz some1 had help on their basement or something. and back to the discussion, you could probally go to a sports bar and see how they do theirs since they have big tvs. see what the manager has to say. that might work.

To be perfectly honest, I did forget that I had already started a similar thread, but if you read through it, I did not receive much help. I am getting closer to adding a projector and I really would like to hear some suggestions, thought, etc.

Have had a Sony Cineza HD projector (model # VPL-HS51) and a wall mounted 100" screen in my basement for a little over one year. You obviously do not want to have it in a room with a lot of sunlight or any florecent lights. Not sure if you have seen the price of the replacement lamps or not but they are about $350 and you need a new one every 2000 hrs. or so. Watching things in HD is amazing. Put it this way most of my buddies have 50" HD plasmas or LCD's and they watch the games at my house. I bought mine at a specialty store in Toledo and they have high end projectors that go for $25,000+ (and are the size of a large suitcase) and said they can't sell them because the model I have looks exactly the same on a screen. Sony probably has a newer model out now and I would check them out before making any decisions. BTW a good 100" screen will run you about $1200.

Mili, I admitted that it was an honest mistake. I had completely forgotten about the thread because I had put my search for a projector and screen on the "backburner." Once I read back through the thread, I realized that there was little feedback. I was hoping this time I would get some help.

Concerning your "ruby", if that it how you get your jollies, have fun.
