Holy sh*t, it's hot outside!

I'm comptiplating of whether or not to go to football conditioning today. It isn't required, but since I went on vacation a couple weeks ago I've missed alot. Plus I want to be ready for when the real practices start on Thursday.

The weight room doesn't have AC(Or they just don't turn it on, the school has AC). And half of the stuff we do is running outside. I will have to ride my bike 1.5 miles to just get there. Plus I have asthma, which I've been told to avoid weather like this.
There was no distinction between voluntary and mandatory when I played.

Well they have rules now. The coaches can't force me to do anything until August 3rd. Only about half the guys ever come to conditioning. Which is about 40 this year. Last year I went and there was only 8 guys there every time.

I'm going to go. Believe me, if I didn't want to go, I wouldn't.

Is there a reason why you guys don't do the conditioning in the morning, like at 8 or 9? Just curious as it would definitely be better in terms of the heat at least...

I don't know.

Never thought of it like that. We don't start until 4:30 and we go to 6:30. I don't think it has to do with the coaches job's. Most of them work in the school, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I think the coaches figure more people will come later in the day, instead of early in the morning. Like I said, its not required, its summer time, and alot of people I know sleep in all day. I think if it was earlier, very few would actually show up.

They always did it in the afternoon when I was going through it too, and as has been said, there was no distinction b/w voluntary and madatory especially if you where a youngster or not one of the best players.

Interesting, I wonder if this new found flexibility is a result of the numerous heat-related deaths over the last several years.

Even though I didn't play football this was my high schools line of thought also... a "mandatory" voluntary workout.
