Holiday Bowl: Texas -3.5 vs Cal (ov/un 47.5) Wed 12-28, 8 ET ESPN

The 2 point spread at the Gator Bowl is a pick em.

Our biggest motivator might be the threat of our first losing season since 1979. We may have the longest streak of non-losing seasons - or the noles do. Either way, seniors do not want to go out as the last team in 30 years to be not hit .500

FSU's last actual losing season was '76 (Bobbah's first year). Vacated games have made 2006 and 2007 (both actual 7-6 seasons) be officially reported as 2-6 and 0-6 by them. But screw that NCAA vacated stuff.

Florida had a 6-6 season in '86, which is why you accurately said no 'non-losing' seasons since '79.

BTW, tOSU has the longest streak of years without consecutive losing seasons, the last pair occurring in '23-'24. :lift:

Back to the game that's noted in the thread...

Texas has been god awful against some good teams this year, and Cal I think is another one of those. They do keep you off balance as someone else mentioned. Somehow I think that the younger McCoy finds a way to get it done

Cal out to an early 3-0 lead. David Ash started @ QB for Texas.

Based on the numbers each put up during the season starting Ash over McCoy makes no sense. He's doing a helluva job so far, as well.

I can understand having some QB prospects bust. But you'd think with the annual haul of 5* OL and RB's they'd be able to compensate with smashmouth football.

it was the way they recruited... Mack has made a living of "accept on junior day" or else .... he also has a habit of telling recruits that their the only one at that position.. the most famous story of it was why Christian Michael ended up at A&M....

the story goes Mack offer Chris Whaley after/during his junior year... he accepted and told him that he wouldn't recruit anyone behind him....

but yeah... for all their top 5 classes they still suck.. so either the recruitnic are wrong or their coaching sucks.
