That used to happen a lot more frequently than you would think back before you could use the map on your smart phone to find the homeless.

Poor guy was probably just the victim of poor cell phone coverage.

Loperamide is an opioid but a certain protein keeps it from crossing the blood-brain barrier. Take enough of it and you can overwhelm the pumps for that protein, or you can take something with it that inhibits the pumps. Once it gets to the opioid receptors in the brain it's almost like any other opioid.

It also blocks calcium channels, which lowers blood pressure and heart rate. Take too much and your heart can stop.
