Snake emerges from car's hood while Florida man is driving



A Florida man got an unexpected surprise after a 6-foot-long snake popped out of the hood of his car while he was driving along a busy highway.

Tim Mokwa of Clearwater told news outlets that he was heading home on U.S. Highway 19 in Dunedin when the snake appeared in front of his windshield.

Mokwa immediately pulled into a Walmart parking lot and recorded video on his phone of the long black snake slithering around on his hood.

Mokwa said he's unsure what type of snake it was. He said he had visited Weeki Wachee State Park over the weekend, and that's when he thinks the serpent climbed aboard.

Um...Is this choice of words on purpose?

The jogger has been pooping outside the Colorado Springs home of Cathy Budde at least once a week and cops have been trying to get to the bottom of the mystery.

In addition to the usual poisonous snakes (rattlesnakes, copperheads, coral snakes, and water moccasins) there are all kinds of exotic venomous snakes lose in Florida too.

Re: Answer 3: An imported exotic venomous snake. Florida happens to be the main transit hub for many exotic animal imports (both legal and illegal) and that includes venomous snakes. Many of these go to private collectors. Some of those collectors are very responsible snake keepers, while others have no business working with or owning these snakes. Venomous snakes are not something to take lightly and it requires a great deal of training and skill to safely work with these incredible animals. There have been some interesting cases of bites in Florida from exotic venomous snakes with far more potent venoms than any native North American species, including a utility worker who suffered a bite from an African green mamba while working up a telephone pole. Attached is a picture of me working with a young green mamba a number of years ago at the Bio-Ken Snake Farm and venomous snake research center in Watamu, Kenya.
