Headlines You Don't See Every Day (outside of Florida)

Dear God in heaven. My jaw is on the floor.

OFFS. I’ve been preaching about the impact of putting analytic tools in the hands of amateurs for years. This is the result. JFC, just because one can string a few lines of code together sure as fuck doesn’t mean they know what they are doing.

I like to drive. I like to drive fast. I have two very, very fast cars. I’m frankly a pretty damn good driver. But I still have zero business on the Nuremberg Ring in a GT3.

I question if Lamb can actually drive.

One of my German friends added a very, very, very fast car to his stable of sports cars recently. Apparently, the Nuremberg Ring accommodates amateur drivers on special days. So, three weeks after he bought it, he fulfilled his dream. He was quite prepared to pay the admission fee. He was not prepared to lose the car on his third lap. Totalled. Luckily he was unhurt.

Data science has created tools that offer precision like never before. All of these "slice and dice" tools, visual "dashboards", and easy analyzes allow people who do not know what they are doing to provide the even less knowing with answers that are incredibly precise. The problem is that the answers are precisely wrong.

Sparcboxbuck and I think alike. I suspect, though, that Lamb can drive well enough to hit the wall just like my friend did.

It's Nurburgring, or to be precise, Nürburgring. :biggrin2:

I’m sorry to hear about your friend and his car. I hope that both made it out OK. Taking the analogy a step further, Lamb having access to tools and data is equivalent to your friend taking passengers without seatbelts on his rip around the ring... and into the wall.

Democratization of data is the business equivalent of participation ribbons. It makes everyone feel important.

... and yes, I’m very aware that the Ring will accommodate me. One day I’ll do it. Get the kids through college and then I’ll buy and take possession of a worthy vehicle in Stuttgart or Ingolstadt and drive it directly to the Ring for a run. I have very few items on my bucket list. This one is near the top.

Back to Florida here but the innovation deserves a post.

Florida man accused of stealing fallen utility pole
According to troopers, the fallen pole ws stolen from westbound I-4, just east of Interstate 75. Witnesses reported seeing a motorist strap the pole to the roof of his 1997 Toyota Camry.

Officials said Hatley drove the pole to a recycling center, but he was turned away for not having the proper documentation for it.
