HC Ryan Day (National Champion)

It's interesting, if you flip just three of Day's close losses (UGA Peach Bowl, Clemson Fiesta Bowl, and pick any of the UM games), he would legitimately be on a clear track to GOAT status.
Indeed. But the GOATs flip those losses in reality. Hopefully these last few weeks is the start of Day doing that. He just engineered one of (if not the) greatest runs to a NC in CFB history.

Fingers crossed man, just interesting how thin the line is between being a pariah and being a savior. Fuckin football

The way it’s always done - AP top 5 at the time they played.
That’s normally what’s done.

Those trying to make the record look worse used the ‘Top-5’ matchup number, which means both teams were in the AP top-5 when the game was played, since his number there was very bad. Oddly enough, they can continue to do so, since beating #1 Oregon, #4 Texas, and #3 Notre Dame doesn’t count in the ‘top-5‘ matchups since tOSU was #6 until today’s poll.

His record against AP top-10 is very good, however.

Better hope things go differently next November. Just sayin'. Honeymoons can be really short.

I'm going to chime in with an unpopular opinion here, but in the era of the 12-team playoff, the outcome of The Game won't carry the same weight going forward. The rivalry was born on the basis that it was the last game in the season, which usually dictated who won the conference and went to the Rose Bowl. That was the end goal in that era. Let's face it, it's no longer the case. In most seasons going forward, there will be 4 potential significant games that lie ahead after that game.

I'm not saying the rivalry will cease to exist, that's not going to be the case. What I will say is that times are a changing and the OSU-Michigan rivalry will never carry the same weight that it once did, unless these two teams play each other in the playoffs. Like it or not, college football is becoming similar to the NFL in that regard.

Well said and I agree. The RIVALRY can live on with intensity across all sports and walks of life - as long as we all hold onto the hate that fuels it. The GAME will definitely lose some significance based on the changed dynamics of the postseason. I don't really give a shit if the rest of the nation understands the rivalry or gives in the same importance that we do. It's not for show, it's an inherent part of Buckeye life.
