CJ was brought into be that hammer but our plays are slow developing and our line is finesse not power. TE poor blocking yesterday.

No Julian was slow on the handoff.

The last two games we lost the offense only scored 10 pts in each game. And though some don't like to acknowledge it, there are some similarities in the two losses. Identifying the commonalities could go a long way in avoiding other losses in the future.

Agreed with this but would add that going slow means there is more pressure to execute on each play since there are fewer plays. And that scenario in turn puts more pressure on the defense. We saw both of those negatives come to fruition last night.

I don't think they needed to go faster; they needed to convert in goal-to-go situations. Those two 7-minute drives would have been just what the Dr. ordered if they ended in seven points each. That second one, especially, would have been a perfect, back-breaking drive, with Sayin converting about three consecutive 3rd and 8s on the way to a bunch of time off the clock and 7 points.

It was obvious that Hartline had just about zero confidence in the offense's ability to pick up a yard or two with a handoff when the defense expected a run. That's a problem if he's wrong to have no confidence in it; it's a bigger problem if he's right. The only reason the slow-play, efficiency method wasn't a winner is that they weren't able to be efficient in goal-to-go situations. Maybe running some kind of hurry up inside the 20 would have helped, but if you simply can't run for 1-2 yards when the field is condensed and they're expecting a run, that's pretty limiting.

Should have brought in the big lineman to play fullback in that situation. They had done that earlier in the season and he opened the hole needed to convert.

We might not be talking about the same play. Julian took the snap and immediately went forward towards the line. In any event it was quick developing and not what we see a lot of with slow developing deep handoffs.

Contrast our running plays with that kid Black for IU. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a back hit the hole as fast as a few of his runs.

The advantage we have over a team like Indiana is depth. Indiana has a great first team defense. It's defensive depth is very spotty. Playing slow enabled those guys to catch their breath. Even early on, you could see their DTs sucking wind on the field. A great defense with poor depth is exactly who you should be running tempo against.
