HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Definitely two very reliable sources of information...

:slappy:
The Scoop was kind of hinting at it too. Zach does inflame people to get people talking.

The Scoop however, though they have faults, they do get stuff correct many times, kind of put it out in a round about way. At least that was my take.

One mention is fine, but 2 mentions is something that maybe there is something to keep a eye on.

Again, not even remotely just an Ohio State thing but continue on this crusade to coddle Day and chastise anyone who dare criticize him.
Edit to complete the thought: Your repsonse is a strawman. I've never ONCE said it's endemic to just Ohio State fans or the fanbase. I am saying, however, the fanbase both sucks, and, due to it's size, the last 30 years of history, etc, that the amount of spoiled fans is far larger than most/all.

Further, as I predicted in the game thread, here we are, on a Monday after a big time victory, bitching about stupid shit. Again, toxic. The rest remains the same, including the 2nd strawman that assumes I think Day is immune from citricism.

I've criticized him though. I've even said that maybe it's time for a new voice at times.

That's a far cry from what the idiots in this fanbase are doing.

The point is, and always has been is, the fanbase sucks. This job is toxic as shit.

Look around the country. Go on any team's message boards and you'll see the same type of toxicity, if not worse. That is the internet/social media climate. I don't see the point in fixating on it and trying to paint it as an Ohio State thing.

This job has always been "toxic". It's the graveyard of coaches. Why? Because the highest expectations are as high as it gets here. The Krenzel quote comes to mind: "the minute we stop expecting greatness from our football program, we become Wisconsin." It is no secret that HC jobs at major programs or NFL teams come with the highest level of scrutiny. If Ryan Day isn't comfortable with that, he's better suited at a mid-tier program like Boston College.

Again, please point out where I said it's ONLY Ohio State that does this to its coaches. I'll wait.

Further, shouldn't people TRY to be better? Or nah?

As for the rest of it, meh. Dude was won 90% of his damn games and somehow that's not good enough. Recency bias and UFM being a total unicorn when it comes to the mythic "top 5 matchup derp derp derp" crap, plus you'll notice the most vocal of the idiots completely go on about ignoring the primary enemy cheating their asses off for 3 years, it's EXACTLY why it's a toxic job.

Again, there's an ignore button and I've been using it liberally both this season and last season because I'm tired of the stupidity. I'm not about to back down from an honestly held opinion.

You're the one bringing the "oh if anybody disagrees with you they're wrong" nonsense. That's what's actually tiresome.
We will have to agree to disagree, I've said before and I'll say it again: I can see both sides. I see what people are saying in pro Day camp and I see what people are saying in anti Day camp and I think it's somewhere in the middle. Happy to see him get a win and blow off the steam. I want to see him be successful and win it all.

Was one of the podcasts Zach Smith's? I saw something there when I searched. If the other was BuckeyeScoop I wouldn't be too worried.
I don't listen to either Scoop or Smith. I do listen to THE guys and Gerd/Orr. I prefer Gerd/Orr and have since the OZone days, myself. They tend to be more reasonable, and tuned in. These two pumped up Days reaction - I watched the video Thump posted here I think it was Thump anyways - you can see a total change in his demeanor. I don't know if they are playing it up or not but it appeared to me Day really was not feeling it last week and then was totally different post game, joking and being light-hearted again. More of his usual self.

When I was in 7th grade, i went to my first game at the Shoe. OSU tied Baylor and they hung Woody in effigy on High Street. The fan base has always had high expectations.

We all know this year the expectations are even higher with all the guys that came back to win it all. Bringing in some great additions to the team and staff. The high volume of NIL dollars. The hype coming out of the program. The hype machine was at full throttle coming into this season.

I agree with the statement that the internet has made it even that much more so. The hangers on and the detractors are now an integrated part of the environment. This will grow with the emphasis on betting and as the college game morphs into the pro game.

Boys no doubt our fans are insane. I used to tailgate weekly for years, and travel to away games. I used to always think the fans that act like assholes don't go to away games. They don't get what it's like. More than once I have stopped Buckeyes around Woody Hayes Blvd from being douches.

It is an enormous fan base, with many who never attended and couldn't get in.

You have to take the good with the bad. None of this is new, like someone mentioned above with Herbie leaving town, it's an oversized cow town with people who are ignorant blasting their retard opinion on Twitter.

You think it's amazing Day stays? I always thought it was crazy the players stay. Ryan Hamby remembers. Lol. Obviously it doesn't hurt as bad as you think it should .. we pull in top recruits, top coaches, and they all come back for more.

Embrace it.

tOSU only has 2 wins over Baylor. Are you remembering the 35-35 tie with SMU in 1978?

I don’t think you’re old enough to be thinking of the 7-7 season opening tie with TCU in the 1961 season that ended up being named National Chsmps by the Football Writers Association of America.
