He is only 1/2 of the equation. We clearly have a problem at QB. Possibly a big one.Jeremiah Smith says hello.

There is absolutely no way he goes transfer portal. It’s Brown or McCord in ‘24, loser (probably) transfers.
Honest question. Why dies everyone write off Lincoln? He was a top recruit with extreme athleticism just like Fields. Fields was a true sophomore that didn't have a year in the OSU system like Lincoln has. Why write off one OSUs big recruits so early? He went with Fields from the transfer portal then Tate transferred. That wasn't with the guarantee that Field could definitely play that year, they had to put a petition in. I wouldn't rule Day going into the transfer portal again.
I think Mccord is a QB you don't want to transfer until Day secures his new QB from the portal so if he goes that route, it will most likely be a surprise to most. Like you don't want McCord and Brown transferring just in case we don't secure the guy Day wants. If we get who Day wants then you live with both McCord and Brown transferring.

What were the options at the time? If you take a look at the Head coaches hired that year, would you have taken any of them over Ryan Day. You have to look at the coaches through the 2018 lenses. Not what the coaches are now but what they were back then. Some were coordinators and some were coming from very small schools.I know we’d never get a straight answer from him, but I’d love to know Urban’s honest opinion on whether Day is still the man for the job. He hand-picked him as OC and then as his successor….I’m sure he’d still do the former, but would he do the latter if he had to do it all over again?
This will be the really interesting question. If Day keeps going as the last 3 years have been, losing that game today still results in a playoff birth. So, my guess is that with the 13 teamer, Day makes the playoff almost every year, even if he loses to Michigan every year. Then what? Do the playoff games, and not the Michigan game, determine his status? Or does “having a shot” every year become good enough? My guess is fans will wildly diverge on their opinions on that, probably broken down by generation.Expanded playoff may really muddy things. If he loses to scUM again next year AND in the first round of the playoff. Does he get another pass because “HE MADE THE PLAYOFF!!”?
i get what you're trying to say, but... to be objective, Day hasn't exactly set the world on fire in his playoff appearances either. This will be the really interesting question. Keep in mined that the transfer portal works a little different now; QBs won't come cheap. It could easily cost upwards to $2M to get a can't miss top flight QB (if there is one) out of the transfer portal. See the going NIL rate for QBs:

Ranking the top 10 CFB players NIL deals
