JT getting snubbed in 2002 is the most egregious. Took over a program in shambles, had a so-so 7-5 team in year one and improves to 14-0 (first ever 14-0 team) and wins a NC. Yes, the award is given before the bowls, but we were 13-0 and had spent a month as the #2 team in the country. It was horseshit. Pretty much any season after that, tOSU coaches were a victim of already high expectations.I understand, looking at it on a year to year basis, that it’s tough for an OSU coach to win COY based off already high expectations and other coaches taking teams to higher heights compared to their respective teams’ expectations to start the year. OSU is always expected to be great to dominant. There is always someone who does a lot with little. But to think that an OSU coach hadn’t won it in 40 years? It’s downright shameful.
