HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

I believe in coach Day. I’m rooting like hell for the guy, because he has a portion of this fanbase shitting on him on a weekly basis. Part of me wants to see him make a run, win a natty and bolt to the NFL while flipping the bird. I hate to say it, but our fanbase kind of sucks right now. The negativity is toxic and makes me dislike even coming to a message board that I’ve been a part of for 2 decades. Is this what we are now? A bunch of whiney nitpickers who latch to anything negative but stray from anything positive?

I’d like to think that we are better than that.

Yeah. I'd never wish for a disastrous end to the season even if it would clear the fanbase of a large portion of the toxicity. Fuckin sucks we're gonna slap Tennessee with our dicks and probably win the whole damn thing

Which was already posted a few days ago and yada yada yada

Day and staff need to learn how and to teach the players to shutout the noise. Stay off social media. Let your play on the field do your talking.

Winning cures a lot of ills.

None of these things are new concepts
So glad to know that you have all the answers for how there kids should live their lives so that they perform to your expectations and entertainment. These kids live on social media whether you like it or not, when all they see is the constant negativity it's going to have an effect. JFC, It's gotten so bad with OSU fans that even Saban talked about how toxic it is on Game Day

Very true. Thing is, even when he was at Bama, as easy as he was to hate, alot of times what he said was true and made sense. He's always been a guy I can say I don't like but I can respect him. The dislike part is probably just jealousy for what he's accomplished. ( and 1998 Sparty.....fuck that guy) But you can't deny that he's probably the GOAT.

Thing was you posted something that had already been posted and discussed ad naseum.

People on here and in the media act like this hasn’t been going on long before Social Media took over a majority of peoples’ lives. Ryan Hamby, hell even Woody say hello.

Again, I never said I agreed or condoned anything, so stop trying to paint me with your broad brush of conscience and condescending comments.

I give 0 fucks what Saban has to say. It’s not like Bama fans have room to comment.

Saban of all the people on earth now and in history, is in the 1-2% range of the population that should never be dispensing advise about being happy and positive.

I mean come on. Forget how/if it pertains to Buckeye Nation. Am I the only one who laughed out loud at the irony of one of the grouchiest, most miserable bastards of all time being told to deliver an anti negativity PSA?

Using ad naseum(sic) here is rich considering the extent of repeated bitch and moan posts across this place. If limiting posts based on ad nauseam-based criteria a third of the posts on BP in the last two years would be eliminated.

On topic: Until you’re being recruited or a part of the program, your fucks… regardless… are worth nothing. It’s nice that you don’t care, but your opinion regarding what is and should be, really matters nothing. In a perfect world, I think we agree that in terms of what does and should matter, none of this social media bullshit would matter to anyone.

Your points about when it started are well taken… it’s been going on for much longer than social media as we know it. Still, it was bull shit then and still is now.

To that end, when people who are in the middle of the situation say differently than you, it’s hard not to weigh their opinions heavier than yours.

Does this shit impact kids decisions? I can’t say. Sure as shit, neither can you. What I can say, however, is if that is the reputation that we’re getting because of the narrative across the media is catching on, it certainly cannot be cast as a positive.

We all want BP to be successful. One of the reasons it lasted so long, in addition to the awesome commitment of Heisman when the future looked rather cloudy, was that BP was an intelligent place to talk and learn about Buckeye football. Another reason was that such discussions were not interrupted by the din of bashing of players and coaches.

In the last two years, there has been a growing crescendo of negative posts. These posts are characterized by senseless rumination over complaints, which usually are stated without any basis in fact. Buckeye defense leads the nation in about every meaningful statistic, puts up goal line stand after goal line stand, and someone will post that Knowles needs to be fired.

Here's a list of things that we really don't need to discuss until after this game and probably even then:

1. Ryan Day has not yet proven to be a consistent big game coach.
2. The offensive strategic plans and their implementation have fallen short of expectations in some big games.
3. The on-field game management (e.g., clock management, real-time adjustments), has sometimes disappointed in big games.
4. The head coach ultimately is responsible for the coaching staff, their player development strategies and implementation, and player readiness to be effective in games.
5. Bashing players and coaches. It is one thing to identify absolute senselessness of calling run after run into the strength of your opponent, when your weakness is a crippled offensive line. It is another to keep harping on about it weeks later. It is one thing to notice that a player is being overwhelmed on the line and perhaps wondering why coaches are not responding effectively. It is another to bash a kid over and over and over.

Before you post, please remember...we all saw it and many of us also screamed at our televisions. That said, it's a game played by kids. If the effect it has on you is to make it hard to get out of bed the next day or see anything positive in life--and many of us have been there--then take a step back and stop watching for a while. There are much more important things to do and ways to find happiness.

He couldn't even take a gentle ribbing from a stand-up comic on an entertainment show

I thought that for a while too. We're not. Just as bad as TCUN fans, Bama fans, Vol fans - every fanbase has its curmudgeons - Ohio State's fanbase is larger and therefore, has more.

But as @Steve19 and @gmen6981 - the ESPN-driven media would love nothing more than to constantly point out (rightfully at the moment) how awful this fanbase is to players and coaches the moment ANY adversity shows up. It's a reason my block list has grown exponentially, but it's also a reason, which you also point out, that I'm finding many other things to do than sit on a forum I've been a part of for nearly 20 years now.
