HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Firing Day because of a one point loss at Oregon is just stupid. We can't even have an adult conversation about that. If he loses to state Penn and scum, we have a problem.

It's not about 1 loss to Oregon, it's about the continued failing to pull out games like that. But yes I agree if he bounces back, beats Ped State/scUM + beats Oregon in the Big 10 title game then things are looking up.

If he loses to scUM this year he should absolutely be fired on the spot as soon as the clock hits zero. scUM is a bad football team, there's not much else to be said about that.

If he loses to Ped State or another game before the B1G title game (knocking them out of the B1G title game) his seat should be white hot.

You can’t ask that of a large majority of the fire Day crowd. I asked it all off season and don’t believe I actually had anyone give me a legit list of coaches that would be an equal or upgrade.

It’s a tough ask

It's because there isn't anyone out there who's an obvious choice. There's no semi-retired Meyer or Saban coming back from failing in the NFL. Everyone's frustrated and tired of not seeing OSU win big games. Day's done a lot of the things we wanted to see in regards to coordinators and coaching. It's still not good enough. He just has to find a way to get over the hump like Smart did, and part of that is luck. Maybe this is the year the ball bounces OSU's way in the post season.

Exactly.

2019 Clemson. 2022 Georgia. 2024 Oregon. All games we never should have lost under any circumstance, but did, in part due to remarkably poor coaching decisions that he continues repeating. He's not learning the lessons and/or is not applying them properly the next go around.

His incompetence in the biggest moments of the biggest games has cost us a shitload already, and I'm not even including the scUM debacles in there because they were cheating.

He shouldn't even get too much of a pat on the back for beating scUM this year (if he does), they are that awful.

We're not getting rid of Day mid-season. His gig depends on what he does against psu, scum, mighty ducks II, and how we do in the playoff. Beat the Joepas, Vulverines, and ducks and we're back to even. Run the table in the playoff and he's Kirby Smart. If he doesn't, it's over. Either way, it's a little early for the torches and pitchforks.

It’s not one 1pt loss…it’s 1-7 and all the losses looking pretty much the same. But whatever
If he loses to Oregon once or twice, hes adds 2 losses against the top 5.

If he beats Oregon once or twice, he adds 0 wins against the top 5 (unless it happens to be very late in the playoffs)

Like what happens against Penn State every time, and should happen again this year.
