HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

This whole thing really feels like it's building toward a playoff rematch. The absolute unconscionable levels of shit talking from Michigan is like nothing I've ever seen before and it just feels like some destined scenario of karmic justice. They're being so shamelessly cunty in victory that I can't see anyway they don't get a brutal fall to Earth.
Not seeing it. They had to endure a year of it and responded with a choke job that would have made the 90’s proud.

I'd like to believe it'd be different, and it's not like it was the same total mismatch from last year, but the execution hasn't there and the initial game plan was very good, but not great. Having Miyan back would help, and you always have a chance with an explosive passing game, but it doesn't solve blocking issues with the OL and TE. The defense is what it is and while I'm excited with progress, it's not enough right now.

That being said, I won't turn down a roll of the dice and another opportunity to prove whether Day is or isn't the man for the job.

Not following the comment on the blocking issues with the OL?? CJ has all fucking day to throw and there were holes big enough to drive truck through. I question why Hayden didn’t play and why CJ couldn’t find anyone to throw to and wouldn’t tuck it and go. Other than some Shugarts OL was probably the best unit on Saturday.

As much as he talks about Hayden protecting the ball I can only think there is a fumbling issue in practice that scares him in tight games unless given no other choice.

While it worked there was no reason to Traynum who had had like 3 to 6 reps at RB all season over Hayden in the Michigan game.

Pass blocking has been great, I think run blocking has been sloppy based on some film breakdowns I've seen. Stover might be the biggest issue there though.

Agree on Hayden.

In the first half the OL was defiantly the most dominate unit in the game, by far. A healthy Henderson or Myian would have had 150yds and 3tds at half. Just massive massive holes for the RBs. But the ones they used had very little burst.

Should have had at least a 2 score lead at half. Just a shame how it all worked out.

So how much worse does this staff look if Purdue can beat, or even keep it close with, a Corum-less tsun team?

Let's see what plays out obviously but people are talking about the possibility in a playoff scenario context. I am more concerned what it would mean about the current regime at OSU.

Just sayin': Ryan Day is sure doing something right in developing QBs...5 B1G Offensive Players Of The Year in a row now and they are all QBs:
  • 2018: Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State
  • 2019: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
  • 2020: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
  • 2021: C. J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State
  • 2022: C. J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State

No one ever said he was bad at his old job.

It's the new one that's looking kind of worrisome.

This is why I’d want another shot if it the opportunity is there. Last Saturday felt more like a lack of execution more than a bad game plan. Last year felt like the team outside tbe WRs weren’t physically ready. Maybe they do pee down their legs again but I still wouldn’t turn down the opportunity.
