I can't live without my DVR. I watch nothing in primetime since I'm asleep by 7pm so I watch everything from the week on the weekend. and I love not having to sit through commercials...

we also have a bunch of things recorded on it for the kids so they can just grab the remote and put on a new show if they want.

Almost 100% is dvr. We have DirectTV (for now...it's worse than when we first got it so once the contract is up we're switching).

The only live stuff we watch is a little news, and even then, I just set the tuner to news, then watch a dvr program. Then I can exit and catch the last 30 minutes of news...scanning from topic to topic...no commercials.

The only commercials I see are the ones I am looking for or that catch my eye.

    Improvements I'd like to see:

    * the ability to mark a program as having been viewed, with different markers for each person in the household, so that once it can be deleted, we don't have to wait to make sure the other person saw it

    * a big screen tv that can be divided into 4 separate screens for viewing

    * complete wireless interactivity with the PC/laptop and peripherals, including CCTV so that security cameras can be wired into the system

The weird thing is that I don't really live that far out in BFE.

I'm kind of in a little telecommunications "no man's land."

Time Warner just stops about a mile down the road with their Roadrunner, DVR etc... so I'm stuck with Insight that only offers Classic cable and no Roadrunner.

Since I work nights or have class every night 99% of what i watch is recorded also. sometimes it is a thing where I may only miss the beginning of a show so I can watch the beginning of it while the rest of it is still recording (often done with 24). Love being able to just fast foward through half the crap I dont care about, I often catch myself if I am watching a live show trying to fast forward through the commercials.

Yeah, I rarely watch anything live other than sports like most of the rest of you. My wife and I have been talking about how or children (both under 5) are growing up in the DVR age. My 4 year old has a few cartoons that he watches and he freaks out whenever a commercial comes on. When we are watching any cartoon live, he is pissed we can't fast forward through commercials. It's funny.

It has changed me. When I watch something live, I watch from the traditional locations, my couch or recliner. But, when I use my DVR, I usually sit naked, upside down on a bean bad chair.
