wow, I may actually have to dust off the old PS3 and pick this game up. I second the above comments about 4 being boring/old and vice city being the shit. I loved just driving around vice city listening the the 80s music.

Check this website, it lists things that people have dissected from the trailer.

It's a great idea that he once was a very wealthy business man. All the sudden the recession hit, he loses everything and has to turn to crime & violence.

The more I think about it the more I don't like playing as multiple characters. Now if the "side" characters were just that, to help push the main story along, that's fine. But I don't want 3 different stories going on at once.

Could Grand Theft Auto V star CJ from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Tommy Vercetti from GTA: Vice City and Nico from GTA IV?

One image percolating over at Reddit makes the case, comparing three stills from yesterday's GTA V trailer to iconic images of the three lead characters of the last three console GTA's. (Click the image to expand it.)

Hmmm.

Vercetti was voiced by actor Ray Liotta in Vice City. The actor's management told IGN he wasn't involved in the making of the new game's trailer, which had a narrator that sounded like him and was saying things Tommy might say. That's being interpreted as meaning Liotta did not work on GTA V. Nico Bellic's voice actor, Michael Hollick ran afoul of Rockstar when he went public with his dissatisfaction for his pay for the game, which may have disqualified him from future work on the series. A lack of these voice actors, of course, doesn't indicate a lack of these characters. As for CJ's voice-actor, Young Maylay, we're unaware of what he's up to these days.

Rockstar Games has selected where GTA V takes place. They've not said a peep about who is in it or who we'll play as.

Interesting. Hopefully this GTA is that marquee game for the modern consoles. PS2 had GTA:3, which paved the way for Vice City. GTA IV was fun, and the expansion packs were the next step in the series. (I almost liked the side stories as much as the Niko story) GTA V is going to be the Xbox 360/PS3's Vice City.

Awesome things if true. I really want to be able to rob pretty much anything in game though.

14: One mission involves breaking out a very familiar GTA icon from a previous game...

So, could be Tommy based on the trailer? Or maybe CJ given that it's San Andreas.

Kinda disappointed that it's just set in Los Santos, I liked the other locations as well. I realize they're expanding the size of Los Santos, but I would have been happier with the same San Andreas map with updated locations. Nice to see that car customization is back, some weapon customization, and no more dating. I just recall how ridiculous it was in San Andreas to gain fat/muscle or lose it to date certain girls for 100% completion.

I was pretty disappointed with GTA IV myself. As it's own game it was okay, but I expected more out of Rockstar. I mean...there weren't any tanks, were there? What kinda GTA game doesn't have tanks  GTA IV seemed kinda dull and lifeless at times. The characters weren't as interesting to me either, and the music/talk radio sucked imo.

I have a hard time deciding which one was better, San Andreas or Vice City. Victy City had obvious Scarface undertones everywhere. I had the best music on the radio stations too imo. The talk radio was hilarious, probably the best in the series (I still laugh when I hear the Maurice Chavez skits "All the Bunnies are Stabbing Each Other!"). On the other hand, San Andreas was just a little more polished, had a load of cool new features, and I liked the plot a little more.

I hope Lazlow is back

If they could bring back the best of the best from Vice City and make that one radio station, then the best of the best from SA, and make that it's own radio station. Add in new music from V, and you can't get any better.
