As a die-hard USA soccer fan, this game managed to rip my heart out about 8 times. I think a tie here would have really killed soccer and all of the momentum it has just built up because everyone would be focusing on the awful parts of soccer - the officiating, the diving, ties, and the overall lack of clarity. This is truly the greatest moment in the history of USA soccer because everyone was watching.

On a side-note: Lawrence Taylor just got indicted for rape.

Can always depend on ESPN to shit on the game's cereal. This, in any other country, would be a call to cancel the sportscenter show and just go into analysis and talking about the game for a while.

It's almost criminal how hyped up I am and ESPN is just gonna go into talking about wimbledon and baseball.

I'm spent. Tried watching on GameCast and at about 70' had to leave my desk and go out to my car to listen on the radio. Over the last 20'+4' I think I smoked half a pack of cigarettes. I had the fucking shakes by stoppage time.

Seriously, from failure to a success.

My outlook was to advance to the knockout stage. Then, anything can happen. They did it.

I think Serbia beats the Socceroos. No clue about the Ghana/Germany match. Honestly, I could see a 1-1 draw. That would put Serbia at 6 points and Ghana at 5 points. Germany would be out at 4. Ghana scares me because of '06, but the US could beat them. No clue what the best draw is. Germany is good, yes, but any of those 3 are beatable. I guess if Serbia wins and Ghana wins (!), then Serbia wouldn't be a bad matchup at all, but I'm not too familiar with them.

I want Serbia, and I want Neven Subotic to start, and I want him to score an OG, and I want a camera shot of him at the end of the game crying like a bitch.

haha emails started flying around the office in the last 15 mins of that game. I work with 2 guys that are straight off the boat from England and i've had a lot of fun with them in the last couple weeks. They were happy(as am I) to see both USA and England advance.

Then we all agreed that hey, at least we aren't French!

lol, i'm sitting here grinning like an idiot. NO ONE i know here is awake. so i called my mom. she laughed at me, but she gets it. i texted my brother. he caught the last bit on his lunch break. greatest game in US soccer history!

Good point.

However, look at the scenarios that BB posted, I would also LOVE to play the Aussies.

All that takes is an Aussie win and a Ghana win. Say what you might about the Germans, but I think Ghana plays them tough today. Doubt Australia beats Serbia, but not impossible. Serbia or Australia, please.
