Group C last games (Wed 10 am, ESPN/2) USA vs Algeria

I'm not ashamed to say that I cried when that goal went in. I live and die with US soccer the same way I do with Buckeye football.

I can't honestly go that far but I have to admit I was lying when I said I had accepted defeat in the second half after we got screwed early. I was pissed because our guys deserved a far better fate than a trip home tonight, hoping they would somehow pull it off late.

When Donovan buried the winner I flew off my couch and screamed, almost as much as I did on Holy Buckeye. That was fun. :)

They finally showed Howard's distribution to set up the goal - it had been cut off in live action. What a throw. Definitely a key aspect of this win.

Yeah, odd glitch there, I saw the throw, but, Donovan's goal went weird slo mo...

I was getting pretty frickin' tired of crowd shots late in the game. I think that's coming from a world feed, and it's not ESPN's fault, but the idiot director picking the camera shots needs to not miss LIVE ACTION in order to show concern on a nervous fan's painted face.

Just wanted to get this in for some reason... and jlb and others did mention this...

But how the fuck about Jozy Altidore the last game and a half?

I've been torn on him for a bit... partly because of his youth (not his fault) and partly because he only wants to be the target sometimes, but.... he has played his ass off the last 135 minutes.... winning balls, creating chances... getting good shots... and really (IMO) a big part of being the catalyst for Donovan's goal today... just shoving it in the other teams face.

I've always felt like he's the type of player we needed, he just needed to do it all... and I feel like he's done that lately...

Hats off.

Brilliant finish to a very rocky road. Our opponents along the path gave it everything they had to defeat us: surprising moves, tricky plays, well-executed fakes...but, enough about the referees. Some of the teams USA played put up a pretty good fight, too.
