Anything is possible! Although that would surprise me. Or maybe he has someone totally different in mind other than those 2.
I'm a little surprised to see so many (myself included at times) turn on Schiano. He coordinated a couple of really good defenses in 2016-17, and most were thrilled when tennessee fan went full twitter-tard and we got him back. The dude can coach. For whatever reason, he and Grinch (and a horrific LB unit) did not mesh. If he's the only cook in the kitchen again and we get a competent LB coach, I'd be surprised if there isn't significant improvement next season.

If he's going to commit to Ohio State, id take him all day.
But that's the rub... we're a stepping stone but he's failed to make that step and its left both parties in a precarious state.
At this point he needs to either accept being a DC at Ohio State is the best job he can find... or gtfo.

Well, in fairness to Greg, we don't know what's going on behind the walls of the WHAC. He was always a "Meyer Guy", so i don't think anyone can say with any certainty that Day wants him or not. I'd lean towards wanting to keep him because he has a strong track record, is an excellent recruiter and a ton of experience that could help a first time HC. But, I'd also understand if Day wants to bring in his own guy.

At this point he may be worth keeping another year for continuity... but it's a situation that needs a resolution.
Maybe Day didnt want Grinch, but it sure doesnt feel that way... looks more like the Schiano uncertainty took the decision away from Day and drove him to one of the other 3 power programs.
Cant help thinking it's affected our DB recruiting either.
That's not a pattern i want to repeat.

Sure, GS was a "Meyer guy", but I think Bill Davis was the biggest "Meyer guy" on the staff.
Pure speculation: the real friction was between Grinch and Davis, and Schiano was caught between a rock and a hard place trying to mediate between the two - go with what the young gun is saying needs to happen or not rock the boat so much and let the HC's best-man do what he wants to do. So, the young gun takes his ball and goes home. It'll be interesting what happens with Davis... Davis is the guy we need to be following on flight-tracker.
