Greg Little (official thread)

Love this pick. Kid has a ton of potential.

Eh...

He's not polished at all, and Colt is still without a true #1 receiver. I like the possibility of him sliding into a Chancey Stuckey type role where he works underneath and can get you a lot of yards after catch. He's definitely very physical for a WR, and he should be seeing as he was a running back.

I'd like the pick a hell of lot more if he were picked to compliment a true #1. At this point, unless there are plans to get a guy in free agency or take Michael Floyd in the supplemental draft, I am very concerned about Colt's development.

The Falcons didn't develop Matt Ryan by sticking with Finneran and Michael Jenkins as the #1 and #2 targets, no offense to MJ. How do the Browns plan on making McCoy's job easier as a second year starter?

I swear, if McCoy ends up struggling next season as a result of shitty talent around him, and then becomes the reincarnation of Charlie Frye, I'll lose it.....

Do you disagree that this kid has a ton of potential? Receivers take time to develop, so what is a "true #1"? Would you have rather the browns picked Jones at number 6?

You've been very vocal about your displeasure with the browns draft and desire to see Colt get a weapon. Unless we rejected ATL's proposal, I really don't see how we could have made you happy. I think we really made out in that deal, especially given this team's needs.

What happened to Roddy White? He was there the whole time.

Drafting Julio in year 4 doesn't really prove your point.

2010 - 1 WR rd 5 Meier from Kansas.
2009 - no WRs
2008 - 1 WR rd 3 Douglas from Louisville (their second third rd pick)

One comparison springs into my mind Re: Little...Antonio Gates. Yes, he's a TE vice WR, but he was a raw physical speciman with ridiculous athleticism that made a pretty quick impact in San Diego. Little is a freak and I think he's gonna help out a ton. I love that pick.

I always laughed at experts that said the Browns needed a deep threat to stretch the field.

Newsflash: Colt McCoy isn't the type of quarterback that is going to launch the ball 45 yards to receivers flying down the sidelines. He is more of a west coast, short pass to move the chains kind of QB, and for that kind of offense, I think Greg Little is the perfect target for him.

He only played one year at WR. Hes raw, but IMO, has the talent. We do need a veteran Receiver still. But i Agree, hes going to take time to develop, and we still are without a big time playmaker at the moment.

One thing you know about a wide receiver who gets drafted by the Browns - he'll turn out to not be worth a shit. History shows again and again.

Draft/sign 100 TEs, silly

Other than Green or Jones I think Little has highest upside of the WR's in the draft this year. It would just be nice if the lockout would end so these guys could start working out with the team. If I were McCoy I would be flying Little to TX to start working on routes and timing.
The one bright spot about the CBA is that there will likely be a rookie salary structure when they get everything cleared up so we won't have to worry about holdouts anymore.
