Little narrows list to 2
Hillside star says it's Irish or Heels

DURHAM - Hillside senior Greg Little has made up his mind about where he might play college football next year.Sort of.
At breakfast on Monday, the 6-foot-2, 214-pound multiple-position player had decided he was going to Notre Dame. By lunch, he had changed his mind to North Carolina. By his 3 p.m. news conference, he had decided that he was not ready to decide.
Little eliminated Ohio State, Southern California and Florida from his list of possible choices. But instead of selecting a school, he narrowed his choices to Notre Dame and UNC.
At a news conference in the Hornets' gymnasium, Little stood in front of cameras with his parents and played the part of a nationally touted high school senior football recruit ready to announce his verbal commitment.
He wore a blue blazer, crisp white shirt, tan khakis, gold tie and sneakers.
Although dressed for the occasion, he was not ready to make a rash decision. He didn't want to call off the news conference, he said, because people had come from "far and wide" and he felt compelled to say something after scheduling it a week ago.
"You can get all dressed up," Little said, "but rushing into a decision is your life."
Hillside coach Ray Harrison said he preferred Little's choice of taking more time over making a fast decision, changing his mind later and then backing out of a commitment.
"This is life-changing," Harrison said. "I have to support him whatever way he goes."
Harrison said over the past two weeks Little had grown perplexed by the choice in front of him and feared he was not quite ready.
Mindful that he has plenty of time to decide, the Scout.com four-star recruit opted to take more time, weigh the pros and cons of the two schools.
Little said he likes coaches at both schools and appreciates what an education at either school could mean later in life.
With that, he does not know what factor will sway his decision. He has three official recruiting visits remaining and will use one to tour UNC's Chapel Hill campus.
As he contemplates schools, there is the consideration of what position coaches will recruit him to play. At Hillside, he has seen time at tailback, wide receiver, outside linebacker, strong safety, free safety and cornerback.
Could that be a factor in his decision? Possibly.
"Right now, I don't know," he said of the tipping point. "I hope it's like that light bulb. When it hits me, it hits me and it's a new relief. It's kind of stressful right now."
Hillside quarterback Michael Johnson stared in surprise when his friend made a non-announcement, but he thought it was classic Little.
"It's not strange. It's something Greg would do," Johnson said. "He likes to be secretive."
