That was one of the worst defended hail Marys I've ever seen. TE Rodgers was essentially "wide open" for that catch.

Great throw, great ending...but do you think Stafford gets that face mask call at the end of the game? I don't.



After the game, NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino defended the officials, though he never explicitly said the correct call was made. Instead, Blandino seemed to provide an excuse (which is valid, by the way) for the call.

Hand up to the mask, quick grab with finger and head gets turned. At full speed official is going to make that call almost every time.

Richard Rodgers Sr was the special-teams captain for Cal in 1982. He actually called the lateral play to end the Stanford game and he touched the ball multiple times (the second and fourth lateral) on that play.

'Miracle in Motown' has an incredible link to the Stanford-Cal lateral play
