Greatest Actor of our generation?

I like Christian Bale and think he is a very good actor. However, his role in Harsh Times was horrific. Maybe it was the movie, but it is unbearable.

That movie was just terrible from beginning to end. I don't think there was much any actor could do with that script.

I really like Mr Pink, Steve Buscemi. Not exactly great looking, kinda Marty Feldmanesque actually. But he has played some great roles in Resevior Dogs, Hudsucker, Fargo, Labowski to name just a few. He was also great in the Sapranos.

Don't think I've seen anyone mention Christian Bale... Both Batmans, American Psycho, The Prestige, The Machinist...
One of my favorites.

Picks good roles, acting is not top-notch IMO. He was fantastic in The Prestige. I get the same vibe from him in many of his roles, despite being very different.

What separates a good actor from a great actor is one of two things.. versatility and/or the ability to grab your attention and never let go. Daniel Day-Lewis is best at the second, and he does it so well that he could probably make any movie, topic, etc. intriguing. Jeff Bridges is one of the most versatile. Look at his role in Iron Man (just a recent one I watched, I know it's not one of his best roles), compared to his role in The Big Lebowski.

Just my opinion of course. Bale is up there with Brad Pitt as far as best roles. I love what they choose to do, especially what Brad Pitt has done lately..

Tom Hanks and Billy Bob Thornton are definitely my picks. For Hanks, I just loved him in Forrest Gump, A League of Their Own, Saving Private Ryan, Cast Away, The Terminal, and Charlie Wilson's War. In Billy Bob's case, it's been The Astronaut Farmer, The Alamo, and Bad Santa. Friday Night Lights was also superb. Most of all, Billy Bob made two hours of ArmafreakinOhGodHowIHateBenAffleckgeddon somewhat tolerable. Yeah, he's been in some bad movies. But, he's always steals the show.
