I always lose the end of Modern Marvels and the daily college football show on ESPN.

As you are setting the recording times hit options. Change it from stop recording time "on time" to what ever you need. Games always seen to go over by at least 1/2 hour I have found. Nothing like getting to the last 6 min of a game and having the screen stop.

BTW, how to make the DVR tape for an extra two or three minutes before and after a show as to not have any of the show cut off?

I've looked in the "HELP" section on the screen but can't figure it out.

There are few ways to do this on the Directv HR20.

If recording a future show, use the select button instead of the record button. This pulls up a screen where you will have the choice to rec. once or rec. series. Select either of these you will be able to adjust the start and stop time.

If the show has already begun and you want to adjust the stop time, use the record button to begin recording. Next hit the list button. Select the show and then select Recording from the list. This will allow you to adjust the stop time.

If you already have scheduled recordings that you want to adjust, hit the list button. Next hit the yellow button to bring up the to do list. Find the show and hit select. Pick either Rec. once or Rec. Series and you will be able to adjust the start and stop time.
