GOAT, College Football O-Line

ShowMeBuck

You know what? Chicken butt.
Seeing how Wyatt Davis absolutely mauled everyone he faced last week made me wonder how good the future Buckeye line could be with young guys like Michael Jordan and the '17 and '18 classes coming on board.

So, what are the GOAT O Lines and is tOSU stacking up the personnel to make a run at the title?

This is an incomplete list but some quality O Line's that come to mind:

1994 Nebraska
2011 Wiscy
2013 Bama

I was thinking 1995 Nebraska, went to look it up and found this.

Just damn...

The 1995 Nebraska OL and the 2012 Alabama OL may be the best collegiate Offensive Lines of All-Time. The 1995 Nebraska OL allowed zero QB sacks during the entire 1995 season. The 1995 Nebraska OL also enabled Nebraska to average 7.0 yards per rushing attempt during the 1995 season. Additionally, the 1995 Nebraska Offense averaged 400 rushing yards per game. They trailed only once during a game during the entire 1995 season, and they beat 4 Teams that finished in the top 10 by an average score of 49–18. The following was the 1995 Nebraska OL.

1995 Nebraska OL

RT: Eric Anderson 6'4" 290 lbs. So. 1st Team All Big Eight

RG: Steve Ott 6'4" 275 lbs. Sr.

C: Aaron Graham 6'4" 285 lbs. Sr. 1st Team All Big Eight All-American

LG: Aaron Taylor 6'1" 295 lbs. So. 1st Team All Big Eight All-American

LT: Chris Dishman 6'2" 300 lbs. Jr. 1st Team All Big Eight

As can be seen, 4 of their starting Offensive Linemen were 1st Team All-Conference.

Wow. I mentioned 1994 NE but I was off a year. I remember them flat steam rolling some folks.

tOSU might not hit that level but I expect the best O Line under Urbs tenure is on the way. What is considered the best OSU O Line?

Well, start with Orlando Pace (1994-1996) and go from there.

In 1994, true freshman Pace was the starting LT and the starting RT was two-time All American Korey Stringer. So you have two of the top-5 OT in Buckeye history on the same offensive line. Not too shabby.

The rest of the 1994 line was decent, not great - C Juan Porter, LG Jamie Sumner, RG LeShun Daniels.

Yeah, hard to imagine anyone on the 2018 or 2019 OSU squad being in the Pace category or even Stringer. But maybe collectively we could see 5 guys that all add up to a legendary O Line. The talent should be there.
