OB: "Personally, I would like to see a mixture of a revenue sharing plan and a soft cap with a stiff luxury tax if you go over."

If TV revenues were equally shared, there wouldn't be any need for a cap. The NFL, not the NBA, is the best model for this. But, however, its a completely different dynamic: football broadcasts national games seventeen times a year while baseball broacasts regional games 162 times per year.

"It seems that the NFL is a little too random and MLB is WAY too constant."

How is baseball WAY too constant? You do realize that your hated Yankees haven't won in four years, don't you? The D-Backs, Angels, and Marlins as Champions doesn't seem WAY too constant to me. Other than the Yankees and Braves, there's not a single constant in the sport.

As an Indian's fan I have long been a fan of something that would level the field in baseball. But after last night it is clearer than ever why baseball doesn't want this.

I have paid only passing attention to the Cards-Astros series. Yet, as much as I hate the Yankees, I HAD to follow that series just hoping they would get beat. I hate that I do it because I know I am being a sucker, but I can't help it.

The ratings last night were phenomenal and everyone who wasn't born with a Yankees hat on their head was rooting for the Sox. Baseball loves it and the last thing they want is a the Indians and Rangers playing for a spot in the series.

Oh8ch: "But after last night it is clearer than ever why baseball doesn't want this."

Baseball doesn't want this? That's ridiculous. At least 25 of the other owners would support a level playing field and revenue sharing because they'd be getting a piece of Steinbrenner's pie. They have one owner making a tremendous amount of money: they'd hop at the chance to get some of that, even if it means a dip in the TV ratings.

"I have paid only passing attention to the Cards-Astros series."

You're missing a great Series. Other than the historical colossal choke job by the Yankees, that Series has been better game for game than the ALCS.

"Baseball loves it and the last thing they want is a the Indians and Rangers playing for a spot in the series."

Of course they'd prefer a Series with juice and history over one that doesn't. But that's true of every sport. The NBA would love Celtics-Lakers every year in the Finals over San Antonio-New Jersey. The Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Cardinals, Dodgers, Giants, and Reds have been around for 100 years. If you're a fan of a team like that, chances are your great grandfather was too, and that always adds more to it than the newer teams like the Rockies, Marlins, etc.

Congrats to all you BoSox fans. You bucked statistics, the curse, and history. If there ever were fans that deserved it, its you guys.

The Yankees were the first sports team that Ive ever rooted for. That said, they started to ruin the game in 1987 with the juiced ball. Now with watered down pitching, and juiced players as well, the game is a joke. Just like watching HR derby. Fortunately for me, since the 1994 strike, I havent ever regained my passion for the game. I watch at best passively now, and will only go to a game on corporate tickets. Make no mistake, I wanted the Yanks last night, but truth is I slept like a baby 15 minutes after the last out....
