Amusing how Sox fans think the Curse is over. Uh, it means nothing if they don't win the world series. Kind of like the idiots who look fondly upon Fisk's homer in Game 6...conveniently forgetting that the Big Red Machine wiped their asses in the next game.

Spoken like a true immigrant boy who not only knows jack fuck about football, but even less about baseball...oh yeah, they don't have baseball in Asspackinstan or whatever you drifted over from.

Uh, I don't think Boston is place where cry babies are right now...

The curse is what fans make of it. If fans think the curse is over...then it's over. A huge weight has been lifted off of Boston. 1978, 1999, 2003...they could never get past the Yankees. They finally did. The curse is about the Yankees. Yes...of course if they don't win the World Series...1918 will hang over them...but this takes the sting out of a lot of losses against the Yankees. Right now it's time to party...cuz the sox are in the WORLD SERIES!!!!!!

Uh, yeah, I didn't realize the Red Sox had never reached the World Series since Bambino's departure. Silly me. :roll1:

Sox outplayed the Yankees severely.

Oh well, the Yankess will have Giambi back next year, and probably Beltrane added on :) And some new (hopefully better!) pitching.

The curse never dies..... !
This is why everyone hates the Yanks...don't win a world series? Have holes in the lineup? Need a slight upgrade? Don't want the Sox to get a guy?

JUST BUY AN ALL STAR AND PLUG HIM IN!

Although it will be hilarious to see Steinny have a coronary!

Lord, I hate the Yankees. :smash:

Yep. The Empire is dead. Luke has turned Darth to the good side, the Emperor got thrown down the tunnel, and Lando is flying out of the imploding Death Star as we speak.

No more Star Wars pics, no more Ewoks, etc. Hats off to the Red Sox, and I hope they win the Series. They deserve it, and they were the way, way, way better team.

I have a feeling that the Emperor is going to try to turn Luke (Pedro) over to the dark side this off season so that the Empire can strike back next year. Until someone actually throws the boss off the top of the Empire State Building I have a feeling that the Evil Empire is never going to go away. That is unless the Imperial Senate can get together and put in a strict salary cap.

Emperor George won't sign Pedro. The Yanks are going after these three people, in order of desire: 1. (tie) B.J. Ryan & Carlos Beltran, and 2. Carl Pavano. The Red Sox shouldn't even sign him to a long term deal, he's about shot.

"Until someone actually throws the boss off the top of the Empire State Building I have a feeling that the Evil Empire is never going to go away."

Actually, Emperor George has had a lot to do with the downfall. He made an awful deal for Kevin Brown, he was behind the Jeff Weaver deal (which crippled the franchise), and has acquired a ton of bad contracts: Giambi, A-Rod, Javier Vazquez, etc.

"That is unless the Imperial Senate can get together and put in a strict salary cap."

A salary cap will never work in baseball. Its a sport built on regional revenues. The Yankees have so much more money because they get a king's ransom in TV revenue from this market.

Personally, I would like to see a mixture of a revenue sharing plan and a soft cap with a stiff luxury tax if you go over. This luxury tax would then be applied to the end of year revenue sharing pot.

This system is more similar to basketball's cap system than football's. I like the ideas of players being able to stay together enough to create dynasties (which is a valuable aspect of sports), but it also creates a LOT more parity and allows a lot of cyclical team development (Good years and bad years). It seems that the NFL is a little too random and MLB is WAY too constant. The NBA (While a lower brand of entertainment IMO) is the perfect example of creating a talent balanced league.
