Irate mall goers have contacted Gilbert officials and town council members, expressing shock and dismay over large posters of scantily clad women hanging outside a lingerie store at Gilbert's new outdoor mall.

The displays in question are at the Victoria's Secret store in SanTan Village, which had its grand opening celebration last week.

Some mothers have complained about the size, prominence and subject matter of the pictures in e-mails to Gilbert officials and in interviews with The Arizona Republic, saying the pictures resemble "soft porn" and have made the mall unfriendly to families."It was just very upsetting to us," said 28-year-old Gilbert resident Michelle Bentley, who made a trip to the outdoor mall Thursday night with her husband and two young kids.

A manager at the Victoria's Secret store Monday afternoon referred a reporter's request for comment to the company's corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Officials with Westcor, the mall's developer, were not immediately available.

Let's see here she is only 28 and already has 2 kids. Well obviously her husband has seen her in less than lingerie and it didn't stop them from setting a family friendly mood. Seriously why do these freaks have a problem with the display. Get an F'ing life lady!

28???? Amazing... I didn't know 28 was the new 43 (no offense to 43-year-olds). Looks like I only have 1 more year of fun :roll1:

My husband just informed me he calls me "Peaches" because it goes with cottage cheese...which my thighs and butt look like... :sob:

Bras, panties and the women modeling those items touched a nerve in the Gilbert community this week, sparking debate over sexy advertising and what's in good taste.

A small, yet vocal, group of patrons swayed the developer of Gilbert's new SanTan Village outdoor mall to pursue switching out multiple large pictures of scantily clad women found outside the Victoria's Secret lingerie store.

The mall officially opened last Friday near Williams Field Road and Loop 202Vicki Parry of Gilbert went to SanTan Village last weekend with her husband and the large images disturbed her.

"There it was, bigger than life. These breasts towering over me," Parry, 47, said.

Mall developer Westcor and Victoria's Secret are working to change the images at the store. No time has been set for when that will occur, other than as soon as reasonably possible, said Sheila Hunter, senior property manager with Westcor.

Westcor has received minimal response to the displays, but the response that has come in has been emotional and the company does not take it lightly, Hunter said.
