There’s a very poorly written sentence in there.
Big difference between leading a team to the national championship game and leading them to the actual title.

For those who care about this sort of thing. My beloved Dawgs are above 90% vaccinated and that includes staff and coaches.
I know the Ohio State staff takes this kind of thing very seriously as well because they are run by smart people.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if Ohio State is tops in the B1G for vax rates/team.

It would pleasantly surprise me. Northwestern went the entire 2020 regular season without having a player test positive, they finally did have a case before their bowl game. And NW’ern now requires all students, faculty, and staff to be vaccinated, so I’ll bet they’re very close to 100%. tOSU doesn’t have that requirement, only the reporting of vaccine status. Day did say a month ago that he hopes the team will end up close to 100%, but it’s not mandated for the team.
Edit - today Coach Day said there are about 10 Buckeyes who are not vaccinated
The announcement about forfeits should help more players around the country want to get vaccinated, but like anything else with Covid, time will tell.

Yes he did, his team has close to a 100% vaccination in a state with the one of the lowest vaccination rates... I really wonder if the SEC will allow fans all season

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart says Bulldogs experiencing 'highest spike' of COVID-19 despite more than 90% being vaccinated
With Georgia set to host its first home game against UAB at Sanford Stadium on Saturday, coach Kirby Smart said three or four of his players are sidelined with COVID-19.
Smart declined to identify the players during a teleconference with reporters on Monday. It is unknown whether they will be available to play against the Blazers on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2).
"I'll be honest with you, I'm as concerned as I've ever been, because we have three or four guys out with COVID and we have a couple staff members that have been out with COVID here recently," Smart said. "For us, we're at our highest spike. And people are talking about vaccinations, well these are people that are vaccinated. We're talking about breakthroughs, and so that concerns you not only for the players on your team that are unvaccinated, that are playing and not playing, because we want everybody to be safe. But it concerns me for the players that are vaccinated that we could lose them."
