Game Thread Gator Bowl: tOSU vs. Florida, Mon. Jan 2, 1 ET, ESPN2

That thread won't receive a post until there's actual news. That way, those waiting for the actual news can tell that they don't need to read the thread yet.

If I opened it now, it would get bumped dozens of times by folks that are nervous, folks telling them not to be nervous, and various other garbage that would probably need to be split off.
Don't be nervous about opening the thread. There's not going to be widespread panic. It's ok.

Honest opinion, I'd have trouble seeing those four players (Posey, Boom, Adams, Thomas) playing in the Gator Bowl.

With Jim Tressel, their actions cost other players a bowl game next season, so they shouldn't be rewarded with PT this season.

I can see the logic, but at this point who really cares? Play 'em. It is quite obvious that the team has forgiven them (i.e. Boom's Team MVP award), I think that the fans should as well.

I know the whole situation sucks, but the "shoulda-coulda-woulda" thing is getting played out and it is time to just move forward.

Why? The players involved have served their time as dictated by the NCAA itself. Tressel lost his job and won't coach again at the collegiate level. If anything, blame the NCAA for setting a bullshit precedent and making self-reporting near worthless.

A bowl ban is a fucking joke. Everyone involved has already MORE than served their time, especially over some goddamn tats.

It's not about the players anymore. The NCAA obviously thinks the compliance department needs to get its shit together.

I think I'm leaning now towards the side of beating Florida by 100 points and telling the NCAA in the post game to go fuck themselves.

Doubt that could happen but if they don't get to play in a bowl next year, they need to get two years worth out of this one.

Gotta say the game is only about a week out and I haven't been excited. Haven't been following bowl practices, nothing. Haven't heard anything about it from anyone. With the way the selections shows hyped this up because of OSU/Florida, its still an also ran bowl with two 6-6 football teams. Hopefully we win our bowl game next year (@ home in the Shoe over tsun) and beat everyone by 50 points

The big picture has changed for a lot of players on this football team. The Juniors basically become Seniors now for bowl purposes. I think the guys are going to come out and play very hard knowing they won't be bowling again until 2013. They should be treating this game like its the 2011/2012 national championship game because of the sanctions.

I want no one to get hurt and for our boys to play as hard as they can for 60 minutes. Coming out party for some of the underclass WR's, imo. Someone has to step up and show coach Meyer they are going to be the go-to-guy in 2012

I hope all of the Buckeye fans attending have a safe trip there and back, and that all of the fans treat each other with respect.

And I hope that the Gators ass kick tOSU so hard that Glendale looks like a Buckeye hi-lite film, that Brantley goes out with a huge win, five TDs and no picks, and that the Gator D holds y'all to less offensive yardage than the last time we met - leading to the #1 recruiting class for Florida.

I will not, however, be accepting bets on that happening. If we get early pressure on Brax and a self confidence deflating early pick-six, then maybe we have a chance. Given our track record, and lack of pass rush (especially since DT Dominique Easley is out until next fall after undergoing surgery) the play action should give you lots of time to pick a youngish secondary apart.

If we have to sell out the linebackers to get pressure, it could get ugly and I'll be forced to watch you have success with a north-south running game. Your line is bigger than ours. We'll see how much (if any) the Urban plucking Mickey [censored]ed off the Good Guys. (that's Florida, BTW )

As long as we don't run the opening kickoff back for a TD, I think we'll be fine.
